SERVICE OF SONGS: Bishop Soroaye Re-Echoes Godliness as Families Honour Late Pa. Capt. Stephen Megbulagha Ofoghan
Ijaw frontline religious leader, Bishop Dr. Godwyns Soroaye JP, has re-echoed the need for humanity to be godly in their affairs with fellow citizens and humanity in the global world at the Service of Songs ceremony held in honour of the Late Pa. Capt. Stephen Megbulagha Ofoghan, who passed away at the age of 91 years.
The brief ceremony was attended by family members and other sympathisers at the residence of the deceased in Ojugo Street, Okumagba Avenue, Warri, Delta State, on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.
The ceremony, which began with opening prayers, featured praise session, Bible readings, tributes, presentation of the biography of the deceased, offerings, and closed with prayers for the family members.
One of the daughters in her tribute, Miss Benedicta Ofoghan, described her late father as generous and a man of integrity that will always stand for what is right, while she added that the family will miss forever miss their father.
A member of the family, Capt. Timothy, praised the Late Pa. Capt. Ofoghan for living an honest life, and credited the deceased as responsible for his professional achievement as a captain in the marine industry.
Speaking at a sermon titled The Last Judgment, Bishop Soroaye charged the audience to be aware that there is judgement awaiting all after exiting life as death is real.
The Bishop therefore charged the audience to strive to build lasting legacies and to be good and not bad to others, to love and not hate, to help and not oppress their fellow human beings, as their deeds would count on the day of judgement.
The remains of the late Pa. Capt. Ofoghan will be conveyed from the Ame Specialist Hospital Mortuary in Okumagba Layout to his hometown, Kunukunuma, on Thursday, December 12, and will be laid to eternal rest on Friday, December 13, 2024.
The Late Pa. Capt. Ofoghan, who passed away in April 2021, is a native of Oporoza and Kunukunuma communities in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of the State.
He is survived by two wives, Mrs. Dora Miewerefa Ofoghan and Mrs. Mabel Ofoghan; 11 children, 32 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
