The Youth President of Inikorogha Federated Community in the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, Comrade Junior Felix Pere Ejoh, has appealed to the Delta State Government and relevant intervention agencies in the state to urgently address the infrastructural challenges confronting the riverine community, particularly its collapsed jetty.

Ejoh made the appeal while drawing attention to the deteriorating condition of infrastructure in Inikorogha, calling on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, MD, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Festus Ochonogor, MD/CEO, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), and Hon. Sylvester Oromoni, Chairman, Warri South-West Local Government Council, to come to the urgent aid of the community.

According to the Youth President, the collapsed jetty deserves urgent attention because of the critical role it plays in the daily movement of residents, goods and services in the riverine community, where water transportation remains a major means of mobility.

He expressed concern that the present condition of the facility poses difficulties and potential safety risks to residents, particularly children, women and the elderly who depend on the waterfront for their daily movements.

“We are passionately appealing to the Delta State Government, DESOPADEC, NDDC and the Warri South-West Local Government Council to come to the aid of Inikorogha Federated Community. Our people are in urgent need of basic infrastructure, particularly the reconstruction of our collapsed jetty,” Ejoh said.

“As a riverine community, the jetty is very important to us because our people depend largely on water transportation. Its present condition is a serious challenge to residents and requires urgent intervention before the situation worsens,” he added.

Ejoh also appealed to the relevant government authorities and intervention agencies to send officials to the community for an on-the-spot assessment of the jetty as well as other infrastructural challenges confronting residents.

The youth leader stressed that communities in the Gbaramatu axis, despite their contributions to the oil and gas resources that sustain the state and national economies, deserve adequate infrastructure and basic amenities capable of improving the living conditions of residents.

He maintained that the appeal was anchored on peaceful and constructive engagement with government, rather than confrontation, expressing confidence that the administration of Delta State Governor Oborevwori, and the intervention agencies would respond to the plight of the community.

“We believe in constructive engagement and peaceful advocacy. We are therefore calling on the relevant authorities to hear the cry of our people and act.

"The reconstruction of this jetty should be treated as an urgent priority because it concerns the safety, mobility and livelihood of our people,” Ejoh stated.

The Inikorogha Youth President reaffirmed the commitment of youths and residents to maintaining peace and supporting development initiatives, while urging the authorities to translate the community's appeal into prompt action.
