SANITATION: Bridge Club Int’l Cleans Obiaruku Main Market, Preaches Hygiene by Enefazu Frank, Nonso Ekwemalor
In a heartwarming spirit of community development, members of the Bridge Club International in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State gathered at the Obiaruku Main Market for a clean-up of the market and its environs.
The environmental exercise held on Friday and was participated in by all members of the club, numbering over 50 persons, who were involved in the cleaning exercise.
Participants, in adherence to health safety standards, were seen putting on gloves, and were equipped with shovels, as well as using wheelbarrow to properly evacuate debris and other waste materials from the site.
Speaking to the press after the exercise, the President of the Club, Mr Solomon Osakwe, thanked members of the club for turning out in numbers for the cleaning.
He pointed out the fact that cleanliness is next to Godliness and that it is important that the market should always be seen as a clean environment for the convenience of all the traders and buyers.
Traders at the market thanked the club for the laudable effort in bringing sanity to the market and prayed for their coexistence to do more for the people as a social club that has been in existence for over 25 years now.
In another related development, a community leader of Obiaruku, Chief Michael Osuya, commended the effort of the club for coming to the aid of the traders.
It is expected that the exercise will spur other stakeholders especially market traders to incorporate cleanliness towards ensuring neatness in the business environment.
