LIFESTYLE: Inside the Palatial Country Home of Delta Businessman, Leader Chief Joseph Wuruyai
Having a home in the creek is a dream come true for many inhabitants of the coast, particularly as the cost of erecting a home structure comes with a huge budget due to the high cost of purchase and transportation of building materials. It is therefore not surprising on the fanfare witnessed on a housewarming ceremony in the coast, and that of Chief Joseph Okpiri Wuruyai, a Delta State businessman and Benikrukru-born leader in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West council area, was no exception.
Chief Wuruyai, the MD/CEO of Jowurus Nigeria Limited, and the Executive Chairman of Gbaramatu Host Communities Development Trust (GHCDT), hosted families and friends to a housewarming ceremony at his palatial residence in his country home, Benikrukru community, on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.
When PENGlobal Social visited the home of the businessman and leader, who is the custodian of the traditional title of Bebeboughawei of Gbaramatu Kingdom, it took a while to get accustomed to the various compartments it hosted. In fact, our team kept bumping into some sections of the rooms repeatedly due to its design of multiple outlets.
The multimillionaire home structure which sits on a large expanse of land in his country home, according to a source in the Wuruyai family, is an eight-bedroom bungalow that boasts of two-sitting rooms and other compartments such as dining, kitchen, store, study, among others.
Fully furnished and fitted with air-conditioning units as well as colourful lightings, the home offers spacious eight master bedrooms for both family members and friends who visit the community that is a tourist attraction, particularly as it hosts the Benikrukru Christmas Carnival that is sponsored annually by the Esther and Matthew Tonlagha (EMT) Foundation.
The simple but exquisite furnishing were quite impressive. The tiling, paintings and curtains were such that they blended beautifully adding a colourful radiance. The dual sitting room as well as other sections in the home boast of some exquisite furnitures that enhances comfortability.
As we made our exit we couldn't help but notice some guests seated in one part of the dual sitting room, with their focus beamed on the big screen television that had the Cable News Network (CNN) broadcasting the events of the just concluded United States of America presidential election that returned Donald Trump for an historic second time to the White House. Everyone was sharing their opinion on the election.
While Americans and the rest of the world were congratulating President Trump, somewhere in West Africa in the southern region of Nigeria's coastal community of Benikrukru, the good people of Benikrukru community, others from Gbaramatu Kingdom and Delta State at large large were also sending in their massive congratulations to the Bebeboughawei on his latest achievement!
