LEADERSHIP: Odidi Community urges DSS, NPF to arrest Okirikpa over alleged misinformation, impersonation

The leadership of Odidi Community in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State has called on the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to immediately arrest Prince Preye Okirikpa over allegations of misinformation, impersonation, blackmail, and actions allegedly capable of disrupting the peace and stability of the community.

In a press statement signed by the Secretary of the community, Chief Bene Youkore Mamamu, the leadership alleged that Prince Okirikpa had been circulating false information against the DSS in an attempt to discredit the security agency and mislead the public.

The community maintained that the DSS has remained impartial in the lingering leadership dispute in Odidi, insisting that the agency has not taken sides, but has confined its role to maintaining peace, law, and order in the interest of all stakeholders.

According to the statement, the DSS only intervened during the recent Heritage Energy oil spill protest to prevent a breakdown of law and order and ensure that peace prevailed in the community, and described the allegations against the agency as "baseless and an unlawful attempt to blackmail security personnel"  carrying out their constitutional responsibilities.

The leadership further accused Prince Okirikpa of diverting relief materials reportedly donated for victims affected by the Heritage Energy oil spill, alleging that many intended beneficiaries were denied access to the items.

"The public should be aware that Prince Okirikpa hijacked and diverted relief materials reportedly donated for victims affected by the Heritage Energy oil spill in Odidi communities, insisting that those meant to benefit from the intervention were denied access to the items," the statement reads.

The statement also noted that the administration previously headed by Prince Okirikpa had been dissolved by the Executive Chairman of Warri South-West Local Government Area following the expiration of its tenure, and added that the dissolution exercise was witnessed by representatives of the DSS, the Burutu Area Commander, and other relevant stakeholders.

The community therefore advised Heritage Energy, other companies operating within the Odidi environment, and government agencies to refrain from dealing with Prince Okirikpa, alleging that he is currently under investigation for fraudulent activities by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the alleged misappropriation of community funds.

"We, therefore urge Heritage Energy and all other companies operating within the Odidi environment, as well as government agencies to distance themselves from Prince Okirikpa for being fraudulent," they cautioned.

The statement further claimed that there is a subsisting court order directing him to appear before the EFCC, alleging that he has failed to comply with the order despite a reported ₦10 million fine imposed by the court.

The leadership expressed concern that the continued circulation of what it described as false information and blackmail against the DSS and other security agencies could heighten tension and undermine public peace in the community if left unchecked.

Consequently, the community called on the DSS and the NPF to take immediate action by arresting Prince Okirikpa to prevent what it described as further acts of misinformation, impersonation, and blackmail capable of causing a breakdown of law and order in Odidi Community.
