GBARAMATU: Asafama Community Suspends Mulade as Executive Chairman, Warns Companies Against Dealings

Stakeholders of Asafama Community in the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, have announced the suspension of Mr. Episi Mulade from his position as Executive Chairman of the community.

The decision to suspend the chairman was signed by Elder Richard Johnny, Elder David Keke, High Chief Mosco Johnny, Chairman of Okerenkoko Federated Community; High Chief Micheal Johnny, the Ibepinadouwei of Gbaramatu Kingdom and Vice Chairman; Mrs. Mercy Bolei, Woman Leader; and Mr. Midearmi German.

According to the community leaders, the suspension followed allegations that Mulade failed to exercise due care, skill and diligence in the discharge of his duties, which they claimed had exposed the community to financial loss or reputational harm.

The signatories further alleged negligence, wilful misconduct and breach of fiduciary duties as grounds for their decision.

They consequently warned that Mulade should not represent Asafama Community in any activities throughout the period of his suspension.

“Take notice that, during this period of suspension Mr. Episi Mulade is not to represent our dear Community in activities on behalf of the Community (Asafama Community),” the letter stated.

The community leadership also called on companies and organisations dealing with Asafama to cease further dealings, discussions, agreements and communications with Mulade in his capacity as chairman, stressing that the suspension would remain in force until further notice.

It stated that updates concerning the development would be communicated to relevant companies and organisations as they become available.

For the smooth and unhindered operation of companies within the area, the community directed that dealings concerning Asafama Community should be channelled through Hon. Sinwa Aaron Ebizi pending further developments.

The community leaders appealed for the understanding and cooperation of the management of companies operating in the area and urged them to contact the office of the Community Secretary where further clarification may be required.

Asafama Community, which described itself as one of the host communities under OML 42, said the notice was issued to formally bring the leadership decision to the attention of relevant stakeholders and companies operating within the area.
