GYC 2024: Expect a fast-growing youth body — Secretary General Aspirant Hon. Erike Raphael Assures Stakeholders
A former councilorship aspirant in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon. Erike Raphael, has promised to bring to bear his vast years of experience in various leadership platforms to help drive the Gbaramatu Youth Council (GYC) as a fast-growing youth body if elected into the position of Secretary General in the umbrella body of youths.
Hon. Erike, who graduated from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, made the promise in a brief chat with PENGlobal Politics on Valentine's Day while appealing for support from stakeholders in the GYC ahead of its forthcoming general elections.
"Having served in other institutions, I've had wealth of experiences in institutions I've led as secretary," said Hon. Erike on the reasons he is vying for the position of General Secretary.
"I see Gbaramatu youth leadership as a place where I will explore these experiences that I've had. It is my pain, with these quality experiences that I have, I need to explore it in my kingdom for the growth and development of the youth body and the kingdom," he added.
Speaking further on what the youth body should be expecting on his leadership if elected as its General Secretary, Hon. Erike posited that the youth body
"The Gbaramatu youths will be expecting a fast-growing youth body because of the wealth of experience that I've had. They should be expecting a drastic change in the educational sector and also a more formidable approach in dealing with multinational companies.
"They should also expect a smooth and hitch-free running and administration of the GYC secretariat. And then in the aspect of kingdom general politics, the involvement in kingdom matters, the burden the kingdom has been carrying, they will see the GYC getting involved to make sure that things work well in Gbaramatu Kingdom," he said.
Hon. Erike, who contested as councilor to represent Oporoza Ward 3 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2018, served as the caretaker secretary of the APC in the state level in Warri South-West LG, in 2020 he served as the secretary general of the party. He was also the secretary of Tebujor Okpele-ama community in Gbaramatu Kingdom.
"With my wealth of experience I'm qualified to run the Secretariat of GYC. I've been an active member of GYC right from inception and have been contributing to the growth of the youth body till date.
"I am therefore appealing to Gbaramatu youths to give me their support as I'm poised to serve and contribute my quota towards the progress of the youths in the kingdom. I will not let them down," he reassured.
