GBARAMATU: NAGS Unveils Top Dignitaries for 7th Mega Elective Convention
The National Association of Gbaramatu Students (NAGS) has officially announced an impressive lineup of distinguished guests expected to grace its 7th Mega Elective Convention, which is scheduled to hold from July 24 to 26, 2026, at Kokodiagbene Community in the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.
The convention, themed "Culture and Identity: Preserving the Heritage, Values and Legacy of Our People," is expected to bring together traditional rulers, political leaders, academics, youth advocates, and other prominent stakeholders to deliberate on the future of Gbaramatu and to celebrate the kingdom's rich cultural heritage.
The revered monarch, His Royal Majesty Oboro-Gbaraun II, Aketekpe, Agadagba, Pere of the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, has been announced as the Royal Father of the Day, while His Excellency, Deacon (Barr.) Kingsley Otuaro, immediate-past deputy governor of Delta State, will deliver the Keynote Address.
According to the organisers, High Chief (Hon.) Macdonald Ebi Igbadiwei, Traditional Prime Minister of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Bayelsa State, and President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), will serve as the Chairman of the Occasion.
Also billed to speak at the event is Professor Benedict A. Binebai, Professor and Head of the Department of Theatre Arts, Niger Delta University (NDU), Wilberforce Island, Amassoma, Bayelsa State, who will also serve as a Keynote Speaker.
The organisers further disclosed that Apostle Mathias Zion Amaye will attend the convention as the Spiritual Father of the Day, providing spiritual guidance throughout the programme.
Among the Special Guests of Honour expected at the convention are the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor; Leader of the Warri South-West Legislative Arm and Chairman of the Delta State Councillors Forum, Rt. Hon. Ekpemupolo Idukedoumene Samuel (Sampolo); National Treasurer of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), High Chief (Hon.) Sheriff Mulade.
Others are Chairman of Kokodiagbene Community, Comrade Ark Selegha; Hon. Selyefa Ekpemupolo; President of the Gbaramatu Youth Council (GYC), Comrade Kingsley Arerebo Egbejule; former GYC President, Comrade Christopher Wuruyai; and Chairman of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Gbaramatu Clan, Comrade Zikurebai Wazo Oyinkuro.
Speaking on the forthcoming convention, the leadership of NAGS, led by its President, Douye Simon, described the event as a significant gathering designed not only to elect new leaders, but also to strengthen unity among Gbaramatu students, preserve the kingdom's cultural identity, and inspire the younger generation to become worthy ambassadors of their heritage.
The programme, organised by the Convention Planning Committee chaired by Comrade Ubebe Brakoru Kester Denyefa, is expected to attract students, community leaders, government officials, youth organisations, and sons and daughters of Gbaramatu Kingdom from across the Niger Delta region and beyond.
