03 Aug, 2023

The Comrade Doubra Timiyan-led former executives of the National Association of Gbaramatu Students' (NAGS) is set to gift a fully developed, "comprehensive and informative website" to the umbrella body of students in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.

This was revealed on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, by Mr. Ubebe Raphael, a former Secretary-General of NAGS in the 2020–2023 tenure, who designed and developed the website with the objectives to "effectively serve as a comprehensive platform for Gbaramatu students" as well as “fostering unity, leadership development, and progress within the community.”

In a chat with PENGlobal Community, the Computer Scientist and web developer, who graduated from the Michael and Cecilia Ibru University in Delta State, disclosed that the purpose of the website is to generate a database of the student body, showcase its executive leadership profiles, educate members on the history of NAGS, create awareness on students activism, exposes its programmes to a broader audience, and establish excellence as a standard.

According to him, "The website will function as a centralized database for Gbaramatu students, both current and alumni; showcase the profiles of past and present executives who have served in NAGS since its inception," and “provide a platform for upcoming leaders, students, executives, and stakeholders to familiarize themselves with the foundation and evolution of NAGS."

Others he said are to “keep track of NAGS' activities, educate Gbaramatu students about the vital role of NAGS in nurturing leaders, facilitate the globalization of NAGS by providing an online presence accessible to a broader audience, and establish a standard of excellence within the Gbaramatu student community.”

On the structural layout of the website, he revealed that it consists of key pages that comprises leadership, registration page, and contact page.

"The website consist of the following key pages: Leadership section will highlight the pioneer leaders of NAGS from 2003 to 2007, as well as the executives who have served from 2007 until the present. Registration Page, which is a dedicated page, will allow students to register themselves into the database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information for the association; while Contact Page will provide contact details and a means for individuals to reach out to NAGS for inquiries, collaboration, and support," Mr. Ubebe added.

Speaking further, Mr. Ubebe, who had also served as a former Parliament Member of NAGS from 2017–2020 (Comrade Freeborn Abraye's tenure) noted that "By fulfilling these objectives and incorporating the key pages," the NAGS website will effectively achieve its objectives.

While no concrete date has been fixed for the unveiling of the website, there are feelers that Saturday, the 19th of August 2023, might be a feasible date as the student body holds its Congress.
