House of Representatives aspirant for Warri Federal Constituency on the platform of National Democratic Party (NDP), Chief (Comrade) Sheriff Mulade, Ph.D, has pledged to use legislative influence to drive the revival of the Warri Port and attract critical development projects to Ogbe-Ijoh, the headquarters of Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.

Speaking during a visit to the Ama-Okosuwei of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom, HRM Monbene III, King Couple Mackson Oromoni (JP), Mulade described the community as a major stakeholder in Warri South-West and host to the Warri Port, stressing that the facility must be resuscitated through collaboration with relevant government authorities.

He said the revival of the port would create employment opportunities for youths and open fresh avenues for economic empowerment for women in Ogbe-Ijoh and surrounding communities.

“As a legislator, Ogbe-Ijoh is the headquarters of Warri South-West Local Government Area and my primary constituency. I will use my office to influence the desired development of the area,” he said.

The aspirant, who expressed appreciation for the reception accorded him by the traditional council led by the monarch and the people of the kingdom, said the turnout reflected the support and confidence the people had shown in his aspiration ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He maintained that his ambition was people-driven, adding that he was committed to representing the interests of the people rather than pursuing a personal political agenda.

The aspirant explained that, although lawmakers do not directly award contracts, they can influence government interventions, projects, employment opportunities and empowerment programmes through effective representation and engagement with relevant authorities.

He promised to use his office to advocate employment opportunities for youths, economic empowerment for women and elders, as well as fairness and equity in the distribution of development projects.

He also decried the absence of a functional health facility in Ogbe-Ijoh despite its status as a local government headquarters, assuring the people that healthcare development would form a key part of his legislative priorities.

According to him, his representation would focus on practical interventions that would improve the welfare, economic prospects and overall development of the people of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom.

Highlights of the visit was the offer of prayers by the Pere of Ogbe-Ijoh on the NDP aspirant, and the presentation of the ‘The Mulade Sheriff Development Compact’ to his majesty.
