FREE JAMB FORMS: IYC Gbaramatu pledges N500k for 10 highest scorers as beneficiaries commend Comr. Wazo leadership
As part of its effort to boost the participation of creek dwellers in the pursuit of advanced education as well as to buoy their performance, the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, has pledged N50,000k each for the ten highest scorers of the 2025 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination for beneficiaries of its Educational Support Scheme.
The IYC Chairman in Gbaramatu Clan, Comrade Zikurebai Oyinkuro Wazo, made the pledge during the registration of the more than 140 beneficiaries of the free JAMB forms which held at the defunct office of the Egbema Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation (EGCDF) along Airport Road in Effurun, on Saturday, February 1, 2025.
The registration exercise which witnessed the generation of profile codes from the JAMB portal for beneficiaries is one of the educational initiatives, the other being bursary for students already undergoing studies in tertiary institutions.
According to an official statement from the Information Officer, IYC, Gbaramatu Clan, Comr Ari E. Ebimotimi, the IYC Chairman "in his address to the beneficiaries encouraged them to be motivated by the potential rewards available, including a reward of N50,000 for the ten highest scorers.
"He emphasized the significance of the reward, and urged them to prioritize their academic excellence and maintain their strong desire to acquire knowledge.
"Additionally, he revealed that the initiative aims to bridge the gap in educational access and empower students from Gbaramatu Kingdom to pursue higher education without the burden of financial constraints, just as he expressed the team’s hope that the initiative will inspire a new generation of leaders who will contribute positively to their communities," the statement reads.
Meanwhile, beneficiaries of the IYC educational scheme have expressed their gratitude to the youth body in Gbaramatu Kingdom for the opportunity to enroll for the JAMB examinations.
"I thank God for everything," said Mrs Eni Adurumokumor, who accompanied two of her children for the exercise. “I think this is a new development for the Ijaw Nation. In education, I felt we are backward, but now I know we will be on top by the special grace of God,” she admitted.
Mrs. Adurumokumor who hails from both Okerenkoko and Kokodiagbene communities appealed to leaders to not relent but to continue to create opportunities for the people especially in the pursuit of education.
Other beneficiaries such as Miss Mala Favour from Oporoza who intends to study Nursing, and Pama Elihu from Tebujor who is looking forward to become a Marine Engineer, both thanked the IYC Gbaramatu Clan for creating such opportunity which will inspire even those who are not desirous of education to enroll for the course of their dreams.
The IYC Supplementary Educational Support Scheme committee is chaired by Comrade Esther David, with Comrade Dekawei Vera as Secretary and Comrade Elekute Tamarapriye as Member.
According to the chairperson, Comrade David, while scoring the exercise as a huge success said that the mission of the scheme is "to promote education and empower the youth of Gbaramatu Kingdom".
