OPOROZA MARKET: APC Youth Leader Elaye Hails Oborevwori, Guwor, Seeks More Projects in Gbaramatu
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Leader of Oporoza Ward in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, Fredrick Eniye Elaye, has commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, following the successful commissioning of the Modern Market in Oporoza Community, headquarters of the Kingdom on Monday.
Elaye, in an appreciation message, described the completion and commissioning of the market as another demonstration of the Delta State Government's commitment to grassroots development and improving the socioeconomic wellbeing of people in riverine communities.
According to the APC youth leader, the new market will provide a more conducive environment for commercial activities while creating opportunities for traders, women, youths and small-scale business owners in Oporoza and neighbouring communities.
He particularly applauded Governor Oborevwori for extending the dividends of democracy to the riverine areas of the state and also praised Speaker Guwor for his leadership and efforts towards drawing government's attention to the developmental needs of Gbaramatu Kingdom.
Elaye, however, appealed to the governor to complement the Modern Market with more developmental projects across the kingdom, noting that Gbaramatu contributes significantly to the economic fortunes of Delta State and Nigeria through its abundant natural resources.
"Like Oliver Twist, we respectfully ask for more. Gbaramatu Kingdom is blessed with enormous natural resources and contributes significantly to the economic prosperity of Delta State and Nigeria," he stated.
He listed internal roads, jetties and waterways infrastructure, healthcare facilities, educational facilities, electricity, potable water and youth empowerment programmes among areas where further government intervention is needed.
The Oporoza Ward APC youth leader assured Governor Oborevwori and Speaker Guwor of the continued cooperation and support of youths in the area for initiatives aimed at promoting peace, development and prosperity in Delta State.
Elaye also congratulated the people of Oporoza Community and the entire Gbaramatu Kingdom on the successful commissioning of the Modern Market, describing the project as a significant boost to grassroots commerce and economic activities in the riverine kingdom.
The Oporoza Modern Market is a popular commercial area in Oporoza Community that was once a thriving hub center for commerce. With the recent successful completion and commissioning of the market which comprises 24 lock-up shops, 24 open shops, modern male and female restrooms, a solar-powered water scheme, and comprehensive landscaping, expectations are now high that the local market will bring back the days of its glory.
