EDUCATION: Gbaramatu Lawyers Commend Tinubu for 'historic and audacious assent' to NMU Bill
The association of legal professionals in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West council area of Delta State, the Gbaramatu Oloutolumo Abu Gbolei otherwise known as Gbaramatu Lawyers Association (GLA), has added its voice to the list of commendations on the federal government for signing the Nigeria Maritime University (NMU) bill into law.
The GLA's commendation is contained in an official statement titled 'Commendation For The Historic Assent To The Nigerian Maritime University Bill' it issued and that was signed by its President, Friday Emotimide Esq., on Monday, February 3, 2025.
The professional body in their commendation describes the signing of the NMU bill as "historic and audacious" and expressed its gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for giving assent to the bill.
The statement reads, "On behalf of the Gbaramatu Oloutolumo Abu Gbolei (Gbaramatu Lawyers Association), I write to extend our heartfelt commendation to Mr. President for his historic and audacious assent to the Nigerian Maritime University Bill.
"We are grateful that under your visionary leadership, this vital and strategic institution has been given the legal foundation and structure to thrive," it added.
The lawyers forum further noted that the latest development has now brought hope as well as will usher in more opportunities for the Gbaramatu people and others in the area.
"Indeed, this landmark achievement brings hope and enormous opportunities to Nigerians particularly the people from the riverine and coastal areas.
"We appreciate the role played by Mr. President in the achievement of this feat for our people. Thank you Mr. President," the GLA once again commended the President.
It would be recalled that the news of the signing of the NMU bill to law was made public by the member representing Burutu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Julius Pondi, on his Facebook page on Thursday, January 27, 2025.
