DELTA RIVERINE VISIT: Mulade Throws Weight Behind Calls for Transformation of Riverine Road Projects
Renowned environmental rights and development advocate and the Ibe-Serimowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom in the Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief (Comrade) Mulade Sheriff, has commended the Executive Governor of the State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, for paying a working visit to riverine communities which included the oil-rich Kokodiagbene community while also advocating for the linkage of the communities on the island for meaningful impact of the road, economically.
Chief Mulade was reacting to Governor Oborevwori's visit to the riverine area of the State to personally and painstakingly inspect some of the ongoing inherited projects from his predecessor, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, in order to ascertain the quality of works done ahead of his one year anniversary in office.
"I sincerely thank and appreciate you for giving hope to us that government is continuity; therefore, no project will be abandoned in the state, especially riverine projects," Chief Mulade stated.
Speaking further, he added, "However, it is imperative to draw the attention of His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori to some of the disadvantages of the concrete walk-way projects in the riverine area of the State.
"This project constructed here in Kokodiagbene community, and others, can only be meaningful, useful as well as add economic value to the people and the state, only when they are linked and connected to the neighbouring communities.
"That is when we can refer to them as roads; for now, they are just concrete walk-ways to enable us access each other, as estate," he noted.
The peace ambassador therefore appeal to Governor Oborevwori to expedite the necessary action needed to transform the walk-ways to the status of a befitting legacy projects by linking them to other communities as his administration's MORE AGENDA Posterity Project for riverine communities of the State.
"I want to strongly appeal to our amiable Governor Rt Hon Sheriff F. O. Oborevwori to kindly link together the under-listed communities in the same island, namely Okerenkoko, Pepe-ama, Ogidadino, Edeba, Ekpemu, Kokodiagbene and Jones Creek Flow Station communities to transform the concrete walk-ways to become a road, in order to add economic value to the people and the state when they are linked and connected to neighbouring communities."
