updated 12 Oct, 2023

In appreciation of the scholarship initiative embarked upon by the Fboumiebi Educational Foundation since 2021, beneficiaries of the scheme in the Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, have continued to share their testimonies as well as commend its chair, High Chief Amb. Francis Boumiebi (JP), for coming to their rescue and igniting the flame of hope in them.

Recall that High Chief Boumiebi (JP), a former Senior Special Assistant to governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Political Matters, recently approved the disbursement of a scholarship sum of N50,000k to 16 beneficiaries spread across 11 wards in Burutu LGA, in continuation of the scheme.

Speaking to PENGlobal Community, some of the beneficiaries of the scholarship initiative such as Odubo Victory from Obotobo 1 community, Julius Princess from Ogulagha community, Okou Anthony from Obotebe community, and Prince Emmanuel from Eseinbiri community, commended the sponsor of the initiative as some of them shared their plights.

According to Odubo Victory, a student of the University of Benin, Edo State, said, “I'm grateful for the scheme. I wasn't expecting this kind of money. I thank the Fboumiebi Educational Foundation and I'm so happy they did this. All I can say is 'Thank you' and I'm grateful,” she said, while noting further that other well-to-do individuals and the government inclusive should borrow leaf of what the High Chief is doing by coming to the aid of the less privilege “because a lot of persons are struggling financially.”

For Julius Princess, a student of Niger Delta University in Bayelsa State, confessed that the initiative has gone a long way to help her resolve pending academic financial issues most especially that of her accommodation.

"I was in the lecture hall when I saw the alert of N50,000k on Friday and another N50,000k on Monday morning when receiving lectures. I could not hold back the joy when I was paid the Fboumiebi Educational Foundation. I am very happy because I can settle my expired house rent. Thank you Jesus and thanks to Fboumiebi Foundation," she exclaimed.

On his part, Okou Anthony, a student of Edwin Clark University, Delta State, thanked the High Chief for his good gesture towards ameliorating the plights of student like him, saying such goodwill will help to lessen the challenges faced daily. He capped it with prayers for more blessings on the High Chief so he continue the good work he has been doing, especially in assisting students to build a lasting legacy.

Also testifying is a student from the Federal University Otuoke in Bayelsa State, Prince Emmanuel, who went down memory lane, said, "From when I was a child I've been hearing of the name 'Chief Boumiebi'. I have been hearing how he has been helping people, until it got to my turn as I was identified and picked as one of the beneficiaries for the scholarship programme. I'm really happy and it's a good thing he has been doing," he confessed.

Speaking further, Emmanuel, who said challenges have no end in life, added: "I'm not the only beneficiary as there have been others; and this is not the first time he has been doing this. I pray God grant his heart desires and replenish him on what he has expended to assist students academically," he prayed, just as he challenged the government by saying, "If an individual like High Chief Francis Boumiebi can render philanthropic act, then the government too can do more better, especially as school fees have been rising, by coming to our aids by giving us incentives to assist and motivate us to learn."

High Chief Boumiebi (JP), the custodian of the traditional titles of the Ogungbeinwei and Kariwei of Ogulagha kingdom and Obotebe kingdom, respectively, both in Burutu area, is a frontline People's Democratic Party (PDP) member/leader from Ward 11, as well as the Coordinator of the Delta Political Vanguard, Burutu Chapter, and founder of the Burutu Political Alliance.
