BURUTU: Oborevwori, Otuaro, others extol late Mama Uyabrade Enerekpemi Agediga

The Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has extolled late Mama Binkayai Uyabrade Enerekpemi Agediga, mother of Comr. Shedrack Agediga, Chairman of Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board, for living an impactful life, and whose passing to eternal glory has created a huge vacuum in the family.
The governor was represented by his Senior Policy Adviser, Rt. Hon. Solomon Funkekeme, at the funeral ceremony which held at Sokebolou community in the Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, on Friday, July 25, 2025.
The governor advised everyone, especially mothers, to emulate the lifestyle of late Mama Agediga, who he noted, touched humanity as a virtuous and as a community woman leader by her meaningful contributions to the development of society.
"Mama has gone and made an impactful life and her legacies as a very strong woman and virtuous community leader must be sustained," the governor admonished.
Others who also added their voices in praises to the late Mama Agediga as well as expressed sadness at the passing of the Centenarian include the immediate-past deputy governor of the State; Dcn. Barr. Kingsley Otuaro; the member representing Burutu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Julius Pondi; the Commissioner for Housing, Rt. Hon. Godknows Angele; the Commissioner for Special Projects; Chief (Barr) Funyei Manager; and the Executive Director Social Services, DESOPADEC, Chief Favour Izoukumor.
The burial ceremony was attended by the creme de' la creme of the society, including the Commissioner representing Ijaw Ethnic Nationality in the Board of DESOPADEC, Hon. Spencer Okpoye; former lawmaker in Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Chief Dan Yingi; former Commissioner for Oil & Gas, Hon. Emma Amgbaduba; former PDP women leader, Chief Vero Emmanuel (JP); Chairman, Udu LG Council, Olorogun Vincent Oyibode (JP); Hon. Godwin Edumogiren, Hon. Paul Kurugbe, among others.
The late Mama Agediga died at the prime age of 104 and she is survived by three children, 22 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. At the time of her passing, she was the Ama-Okosu-ere of Sokebolou community
