WARRI SOUTH-WEST: Isede to Vie for Councillor, Appeals for Support
Ahead of the Delta State local elections to elect 25 local government chairmen and 500 LG councillors in all 25 local government areas of the State, an aspiring youth from Kokodiagbene community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West LGA of the State, Mr. Emmanuel Isede, has declared his ambition to run for councillor in Gbaramatu Ward 20 under the platform of the People's Democratic Party, PDP.
Mr. Isede made his ambition known at a town hall meeting that held recently in Kokodiagbene community, with an appeal to members of the constituency for support.
In a chat with PENGlobal Politics, the vibrant youth said that one of the reasons of vying for the position of councillor to represent the two communities of Kokodiagbene and Benikrukru that make up Ward 20, is to ensure that as a representative of the people, whatever development projects due to them will be secured.
Mr. Isede who also revealed that there is a sharing formula among the two communities, stated that while it is time for the Kokodiagbene people to produce the next councillor in the Warri South-West LG Council, the two communities are one and as such none will be shortchanged on democratic dividends.
Speaking on what the people should expect from his representation in the LG council, he said, "Because I'm vying for councillor I cannot be promising the people that I will deliver tarred roads, give them electricity and so on. However, there are some developments that are due to the communities in my constituency; those ones I will stand and defend them to ensure they get to the people.
"Also, I will carry everyone along. I will always consult with my political leaders and the people to gain their opinions so that I can be aware of what they desire before taking a decision in their overall interest," he added.
He therefore appealed to leaders and members of Ward 20 to accept his candidacy as well as give him the needed support to enable him achieve his ambition to represent the people in the legislative chambers of the Warri South-West LG Council.
"I want Benikrukru and Kokodiagbene electorates to accept and to support me so that I can stand and represent their interests. If I am there, I believe there will be transparency as whatever that comes to the Ward, I will be able to deliver, to them without bias," he appealed.
