The Sir Gabriel Ekirikougha Ukuli-led Old Students of Luminary School Alumni Association (LUSESC) in Warri, Delta State, has commissioned a toilet facility built by the Alumni in the school premises as part of its contributions to providing a comfortable and healthy environment for learning.

The brief ceremony, which held in the premises of the school situated at Karien Street, Okumagba Layout in Warri, had in attendance Mr. Efe Mariega (Secretary), Mr. Ugochukwu Ikerealo, Mrs Ovoke Joan Efeisi (Head, Advisory Committee) amongst others, on Thursday, September 24, 2026.

The toilet facility was reconstructed and equipped with new porcelain hand washers and toilet bowls within two compartments for male and female.

According to Sir Ukuli, the initiative was embarked upon as a measure to enhance safety for students especially as the dilapidated facility poses health risks to both students and teachers alike.

"We embarked on this project to the glory of God and as a service to humanity," said Sir Ukuli after the successful commissioning of the facility.

"We saw the toilet as it was and I think it is a way of contributing our quota to the betterment of humanity. This place is now safer for the children to use. It inspires us more to help to ensure that the environment is safe for the children as they learn," he added.

In his response, the Principal of Luminary Schools, Akpoviri Akpoyoware, expressed his happiness on the latest development with appreciation to members of the Alumni.

"It's a day of excitement for me because the Alumni Association have put a smile on our faces by giving us a befitting restroom in terms of the toilet project. We are very happy to receive their love.

"We also pray that God will, in His infinite mercies, keep all LUSESC members in good health and in wealth.

"We also use this opportunity to thank the president and the other executives who have deemed it fit to give us this befitting toilet. I thank you all for the great honor that you have given to us. God bless you all."

In another development, during the visit by LUSESC, an anonymous member of the Alumni paid the fees of Miss Christian Sharon, a Kindergarten 3 (KG) pupil of Luminary Schools, easing the burden of her parents.

The newly commissioned restroom facility, which replaces the former dilapidated structure, will not only ease pupils, students and teachers when nature calls, but has also eliminated dangers to their health.
