N'DELTA: NDYC expresses confidence in Tantita, urges Tinubu to sign surveillance contract

The Niger Delta Youth Council has thrown its weight behind Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to review and sign the company's surveillance contract with the federal government without further delay as it believes the move would boost the Nigerian oil industry, citing Tantita's proven track record in protecting critical infrastructures.

In a statement, Amb. Bene Mamamu, National President of the council, emphasised that Tantita has demonstrated competence and capacity in securing oil facilities.

He warned that failure to sign the contract could cripple the oil and gas industry, advising President Tinubu and relevant authorities to be cautious of calls for decentralization.

Mamamu urged the National Security Adviser, NNPCL, and the National Assembly to ignore calls for decentralization, attributing such demands to individuals involved in oil bunkering activities, while emphasizing that decentralization could undermine security efforts and create opportunities for illicit activities.

The Council's stance aimed to promote unity and cooperation in the Niger Delta, encouraging stakeholders to work together for peace and development in the region.

Mamamu further called on Niger Delta residents to avoid divisive tendencies and support initiatives that benefit the region.

The group's confidence in Tantita stems from its effectiveness in curbing oil theft and vandalism. With the contract, Tantita could further enhance security and contribute to Nigeria's economic growth.
