FUNERAL: The Bebenimibo's Honour Late Mr. Sunday Kanabar with befitting Burial Rite at Orogun

Orogun Main Town in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State was agog with celebration as Mr. Emmanuel Amaye Bebenimibo, a native of ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West council area, joined other in-laws, family members and sympathisers to honour and to give a befitting funeral to his late father in-law, Mr. Sunday Kanabar, on Friday, May 8, 2026.

Among other personalities in attendance at the ceremony which held at the Efe Primary School, Orogun, include Chief Madam Ogunwa Bebenimibo (popularly known as Madam Dolphin), Engr. Daniel Amaye Bebenimibo, Chief Francis Oyimi, Mr. Jefferson Brisibe, Mr Robinson Towei, Engr. Kudos Ogelegbanwei.

Mrs. Emmanuel Amaye Bebenimibo set to pay her last respect to her late father

The late Mr. Kanabar who was born into the family of Mr. and Mrs. Kanabar of Ogbe-Ikorobie in Unukpo Quarters, Orogun Main Town, 83 years ago, passed on to eternal glory on Saturday, October 22, 2025, after a brief illness.

He is described as a calm and peaceful person, simple, caring and respectful, treating everyone equally regardless of their status. He was also known to be disciplined, a man of strong principles, fearless and as someone who avoided unnecessary conflict, earning him the Urhobo nickname "Denden".

As a lively personality, during his youthful age he led a dance group called Kokoma in the early 1960's and was admired for his excellent dancing skills. As a young man, he was also a talented footballer and a lover of the game of football, and often watched matches at the Warri Township Stadium. Even at home, his favorite pastime was watching football. His favorite clubs were Manchester City and Real Madrid.

Though an entrepreneur, he worked hard in several companies before becoming a trader at the Warri Main Market. He was a dedicated member of Shepherd House Evangelical Church where he worshipped until his demise.

He was married to his beloved wife of blessed memory, Late Mrs. Philo Kanabar, and their union was blessed with children—two sons and four daughters. He was also blessed with many grandchildren.

Speaking about his father in-law, Mr. Bebenimibo, who is married to one of the daughters of the late Kanabar, stated that the loss has created a vacuum in the family as no one can replicate the valuable roles he played, stressing further that his wise counsels, guidance, and love will also be missed by all.

He praised the late Kanabar for his positive contributions in the family and prayed the Almighty God to grant him eternal rest in His Bosom as well as grant them the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
