ENTERTAINMENT: OMAG excites Aketekpe as Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom stresses on diversity, calls for support

The Pere of the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom in the Warri South-West council area of Delta State, HRM Oboro Gbaraun II (JP), Aketekpe, Agadagba, has expressed his excitement in the establishment of the Owigiri Musicians Association of Gbaramatu, OMAG, an umbrella body of performing traditional artistes of Gbaramatu descent.
The royal father in his excitement also stressed on the importance of sons and daughters of the riverine kingdom to look beyond the oil and gas, and politics, by engaging in other sectors for self-employment, empowerment as well as contributing to the growth of the kingdom.
Aketekpe's comments were made when some members of the OMAG, as led by its chairman, Kingsley Markson whose performing alias is King Zubiri, paid the royal father a courtesy visit to seek for his fatherly blessings and support.

His Majesty lauded the members of the OMAG for coming up with such a platform especially as the presence of the Gbaramatu people have not been visible enough in the entertainment industry.
The Pere, who visibly expressed his joy in seeing his children going into the performing arts and undertaking such a career path, called on sons and daughters of the kingdom, as well as other Ijaw kingdoms to encourage the young and vibrant musicians by engaging their services in their various ceremonies.
His Majesty extended a hand of support to the OMAG with assurance of his guidance, prayers, counsels when needed to further their trade as performing musicians, and offered his fatherly advice with the charge to members to love themselves, to be united, to avoid enmity, and to do away with whatever will bring disrepute to the association.

Earlier, the musician association had sought for the Pere's counsel, prayers, and support towards achieving their ambition to stand out in the performing arts. They also appealed to other notable sons and daughters to encourage them through patronage and donations to their cause.
A major highlight of the visit was when members of the OMAG did a rendition of an Acapella before His Majesty as they entertained the Pere with their sonorous voices and showcased their natural singing prowess.
Personalities in attendance during the courtesy visit are High Chief Wellington Okrika JP, the Bolowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom; High Chief Wellington Bobo, the Uroupawei of Gbaramatu Kingdom; Chief Friday Bobo, the Ebi-Ibananaowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom; Apst. Amb. Labort Tonfawei, a community leader.
Other members of OMAG are Agbe Senator Launching (Secretary), Perebode Aruwei (Speaker), Inomi Raphael alias DJ Ralph (Mobilization Officer), Governor Kemiyen Itiemongha, Peres Oweiware, Sunday Omole Odu alias Master Orus, and Mr Morris Piniki.
