CHILD NAMING: Samuel Abai family names miracle baby born 16 years after marriage

Her name is.... Wait a minute, not that fast. We will get to that part shortly. But first, let us go back to an interesting part of the story before we get down to the naming session of the miracle baby that was born to the family of Mr. Samuel and Mrs. Esther Abai, after 16 years of marriage.

Married March 3, 2009, Mr. Samuel Abai, a native of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West council area of Delta State, like every groom and husband, looked forward to being a father. However, that expectation that began even before his marriage, would become a long windy road that stretched to 16 years before he would arrive at his preferred destination in marriage.

Between then and now, the couple went from one ordeal to the other, especially in an African setting were marriage is deemed as incomplete without the harvest of the fruit of the womb (children). Things even got to a standstill for the couple, reminiscent of the Biblical story of Abraham and Sarah, when the wife indulged her husband to try his luck on a third party.

"I told my husband to marry another woman but he said 'No'. I told him to try, that maybe the fault was from me. At least we had tried severally but it was not working as planned. But he insisted not to because he believed God will do it. So we kept praying and left it for God," said Mrs. Esther, while sharing her sordid experience for the past 16 years in marriage without a child to call her own, until now.

Mrs. Esther, a native of Ajakurama community in Egbema Kingdom, Ovia North-East LGA of Edo State, explained further, "It's not easy. Sometimes we lose hope, sometimes we encourage ourselves to put hope in God. Sometimes, as a human being and being a woman, I feel sad when I see other children, other men buying Christmas clothes for their children and my husband having none.

"But when God finally did it, we didn't expect it and I didn't know. I only became aware that I was pregnant three months into pregnancy. You know that I didn't put hope and so I was not conscious of it," she revealed.

"I put my trust in God. I know that God will not fail me," Mr. Samuel Abai chipped in and then added, "His work I am doing, I put all my efforts in doing it believing that He will surely do it for me. I believed that in the same way He did it for my parents who gave birth to me, the same way He will do it for me. And truly, God answered our prayers," he noted, full of smiles.

The overjoyed mother expressed her gratitude to the Almighty God for staying faithful to them jyst as she counseled other women that are still expecting the fruit of the womb "to be prayerful and be patient as God will definitely come through for them."

After so long in waiting, precisely on May 20, 2025, their infant child was born. And quite interesting, the infant joined other children all over the world with her naming ceremony marked on Children's Day.

Conducted by the minister of the Fountain of Life Baptist Church in Usiefurun, Udu council area, Rev. Emmanuel Osayande, the infant child was named as ELIANA TAMARAEBI BOYE, in the epoch making ceremony that was well attended by a large crowd of guests, some of whom came not only to witness it but to also tap into the grace received by the couple from the Almighty God.
