CEPEJ: Nifor, Emevor Mixed Secondary Schools Emerge Winners of Sheriff Mulade Quiz, Essay 2024 Edition

Nifor Island Secondary School and Emevor Mixed Secondary School have emerged winners of the annual Comrade Sheriff Mulade Quiz and Essay competition organised for riverine and rural secondary schools in Delta South Senatorial district, Delta State, by the Center for Peace and Environmental Justice's (CEPEJ) National Coordinator, Chief Sheriff Mulade.

The competition which held Thursday, February 29th, 2024, at the Federal Government College in Warri, is organised annually by the CEPEJ Boss to help bridge the gap between the riverine/rural schools and their urban counterparts in the State.

Schools that participated in the 2024 edition of the competition are; Iluelogbo Grammar School, Isoko North LGA; Nifor Island Secondary School, Warri South-West LGA; Mein Grammar School, Kiagbodo, Burutu LGA; Kpakiama Secondary School, Bomadi LGA; Beach Secondary School, Warri North LGA; Erejuwa Secondary School Warri South LGA; Emiye Girls Grammar School, Isoko South LGA; and Odoburu College, Patani LGA.

Members of the panel of judges are Dr. Christy Okerie and Mr. Eze Ariwojo, who rated the performance of classes that participated in the quiz competition namely: Junior Secondary School (JSS) 1 to 3 in the quiz competition, and Senior Secondary School (SSS) 1 to 3 in the essay part of the competition.

Victor Fungere and Abel Ebimobo-ere Precious from NIfor Secondary School clinched the 1st position and cash prize in the quiz competition while Erejuwa II Secondary School in Warri South and Kpakiama Secondary School in Bomadi LGA clinched the 2nd and 3rd position and prizes, respectively.

For the essay competition, Miss Williams Gift from Emevor Mixed Secondary School in Isoko North clinched the 1st position, while Miss Eyekosi Ruth from Atuwatse II College in Warri South and Miss Ota-Deta Uwomano from Emede Grammar School in Isoko South, came 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

The sponsor of the competition, Chief Mulade, who is the Ibe-Serimowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom, in his speech congratulated the winners and urged the losers to not be dissuaded but to be motivated to do better in the next edition.

""Let me use this opportunity to sincerely congratulate the best three schools that emerged as representatives of their various schools and LGAs in this competition, and to compete with other schools in the eight LGAs. Those competing today are shining examples, I challenge them to always be exemplary from now henceforth and should constantly see themselves as a beacon of hope to their mates and those below them," the CEPEJ Boss said.

Chief Mulade who presented cash prizes to the winners also called for stakeholders to invest in education.
