BREAST CANCER: MICN Urges Early Detection, Launches 'Delta Goes Pink' Campaign

The Moms and Infant Care Network (MICN) led by its President and Founder, Dr. Praise Ebimaye Tangbe Ari, has called on residents to seek timely medical attention and share accurate information about the disease during the launch of its Delta Goes Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign in Warri, Delta State.

Speaking during the campaign at the College of Education Warri on Saturday (October 17, 2026), the organisation’s President and Founder said the initiative was part of the global observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month aimed to bring its message of hope and awareness to communities in Delta State.

Dr. Tangbe Ari said fear, stigma and inadequate information could prevent people from seeking care, stressing that early detection and timely medical attention could make a difference.

"Breast cancer continues to affect countless individuals and families. Unfortunately, fear, stigma, and a lack of information can prevent people from seeking timely medical attention.

"Through this campaign, we hope to break the silence, spread accurate information, and remind everyone that early detection and timely medical care can make a difference," she added.

She said the campaign reflected MICN’s commitment to health education and support, adding that everyone deserved access to relevant information and assistance.

The MICN founder thanked the campaign’s partners, sponsors, healthcare professionals, volunteers, performers and other contributors for supporting the event.

She also commended breast cancer survivors, describing them as symbols of courage, strength and hope, while encouraging participants to take part in the campaign’s activities, learn from the programme and share its message with their families and communities.

“As we walk, exercise, learn, and share experiences today, let us remember that awareness saves lives, early detection matters, and together, we can make a difference,” Dr. Tangbe Ari said.

The MICN also hosted a trade fair as part of its Delta Goes Pink initiative and featured a 5-kilometre run and walk for make and female participants who were awarded cash prizes, free health screenings and activities to raise awareness about breast cancer.
