2ND YEAR REMEMBRANCE: Tribute to a Golden Father Late High Chief Dr. Elder Jonathan Gere Bakah Ari (JP)

updated 04 Apr, 2025

Dear Father, High Chief Dr. Elder Jonathan Gere Bakah Ari (JP), the Puwei of Gbaramatu Kingdom, today (April 4th 2025) makes it 24 months (2 years) since you transited the Earthly plane to the afterlife. We strongly believe that you are with your Maker, resting peacefully from all our your Earthly struggles until the Almighty God deem it fit to reawaken your soul, and reunite you with your beloved family in a perfect world than this one.

Yes, it has been two years since your sudden demise. But Dad, it still seems like it was just yesterday you left on a journey no one who has undertaken it has ever returned from, save the Lord Jesus Christ! Sometimes we don't know whether to rejoice in your remembrance (afterall by our judgement you lived long, departing at the age of 84 years with many laurels of accomplishments to your golden name). Yet, we wish you had never left us but that you are still very much here with us, to school us in the practical lessons of your life. But more importantly, is the fact that you want the best for us and would not wish us to shed any tear in your remembrance.

Dad, your legacy still lives on. Like words written on marble, your legacy is here to stay, unrivaled. How you did it still amazes us as we struggle daily to sustain your legacy while we are also determined to make a name for ourselves. It is not easy. It is not easy for you too. That is the reason why we will continue to hold you in our hearts in high esteem. Not just us (your children) but even those who knew you during your lifetime.

We miss you Dad, always. These past two years, which seems like just yesterday gone by, ironically, still seems like forever to us, as each day that passes by is like a thousand years when you're not with us. We longed for you everyday but we take solace in the fact that you are always here with us in our hearts.

We therefore thank you for your fatherly love and counsel while you were here. Those spoken words of yours are not treasures in our ears. We are grateful for the lessons you taught us and for the honour you passed unto us.

We pray you continue to rest peacefully and that you intercede for us in prayers as you always do. Your life here on Earth is done. It is now left for us to live ours. But the greatest benefit of having you as our father is that your life is a challenge for us to do better. And we will try not to disappoint.

Rest on Daddy until the Resurrection morning. We miss you. We love you but God loves you best!
