updated 19 Aug, 2024

On Saturday morning of August 17, 2024, in the coastal city of Benikrukru community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, the Church of God Mission Int'l (CGMI) district headquarters (Solution Arena) was a center of attraction as ministers, worshippers and visitors-cum-guests trooped in to witness the unification of Benikrukru latest couples, Mr. Mark Imoun and Miss Evelyn Effam.

Earlier, some days ago, the groom had obtained blessings from his in-laws having fulfilled all of the requirements on the payment of bride price in accordance to the Ijaw custom on traditional marriage in the bride's hometown, Akpata Community in Ese-Odo L.G.A. of Ondo State.

The Solemnization of Holy Matrimony, which was officiated by Rev. Elizabeth Atagana, the minister-in-charge and district presbyter of the CGMI, was also witnessed by the Rev. Eric Effun, the national presbyter of CGMI, alongside other Pentecostal ministers including Bishop Felix Piniki of Fire Faith Praise Mission Int'l Inc. and Pastor Abel Simon of One Accord Bible Church.

The stars of the ceremony, the groom in his cream and black suit, along with his beautiful bride in her white gown, at the altar exchanged their marital vows and took turns to place their wedding rings in each other's fourth fingers. Then came that part where the couple sealed the rituals with a kiss.

The national presbyter of CGMI, Rev. Effun, in his brief sermon charged the couple to confide in each other and in God, as well as both should play the part expected of them in the marriage so as. to make their home blissful and blessed.

Speaking to PENGlobal Social, Bishop Piniki admonished the husband and the wife to learn more about themselves, a task he describes as a lifetime pursuit, in order for the couple to discover and understand more each other's weaknesses and learn to cope with them.

He also charged the husband to love his wife according as the scripture commands and the woman to likewise submit to the husband in order to make the marriage work.

Other highpoints of the ceremony include a prayer session by ministers in attendance on the couple followed by a praise rendition by the bride and group photograph session by the couple with families, friends and well-wishers.

What followed next was a marriage reception party in celebration of the success of the union.
