updated 03 May, 2025

It was a touching moment during the funeral service of late Mrs. Faith Joseph Uwale Imeleye (Nee Tonfawei) as family members poured out their hearts via tributes in honour of the memories of their beloved departed mother and grandmother who was laid to rest at the New Jerusalem Zion, Oporoza community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, on Friday, May 2, 2025.

The late Mrs. Faith Joseph Uwale Imeleye, who passed away at the age of 60 years, is survived by a husband, Mr. Joseph Uwale Imeleye, four daughters, a son, nine grandchildren among other relatives and friends.

In his tribute, Mr. Uwale Imeleye wrote, "My wife is so determined, courageous, and compassionate. She was always there for me and our children, filling the gap in area I could not meet up. She went far in assisting me for so many years of living together. It is hard to believe that you are gone," he confessed and added "Rest in peace my beloved wife," he prayed.

For Mrs. Edis Aduwari, a daughter, she wrote, "My mother was an inspiring soul, always there for all who come to her with troubled hearts. Her hospitality made her very important. My mother was so passionate about her children getting quality education. My mother was an industrious woman, who does not depend on anyone for survival. My mother always advised her children not to involve themselves in any unlawful activities. She always encouraged us to be focused and put our trust in God."

On her part, Tekena Imeleye, another daughter said "My mom was the heart of our family —kind, strong, and full of love. I'm so grateful for everything she gave to us and I'll carry her in my heart always," she promised herself.

Timi Bright, another of her daughter began with a rhetorical question: "Where do I begin now? I lost sleep just thinking of you. How could you leave so soon, Mommy?" she asked. Continuing, she wrote, "You always say that you will grow old and stay long with me but you never got old. I never knew that Heaven will call you that day. The Angels could not wait for you. Now I know why you told me to be strong because you know one day I would need the strength to bear your loss. Mommy, you left so many children behind as they fondly call you "Ijaw Mama". That special rice you always cook for them. You're irreplaceable," she admitted.

Mama's only son, Edisimi Imeleye, simply admitted "Mummy, you will always have a special space in my heart. You always showed us love and I'm grateful to God for the impactful life you lived. The news of your death was devastating to me but God loves you more and He knows why He called you now. May your soul rest in peace, Amen" he prayed.

"Mom, it's so hard for me to believe you have gone so soon," wrote Ebimo Imeleye, a daughter. "But I am consoled by your unwavering dedication to serving God and humanity. You brought joy, comfort, support and guidance to everyone around you. Rest on peacefully, Mom," she added.

The grandchildren were not left out as Layefa, one of the grandchild, on behalf of the other grandchildren said, "Grandma, you have raised up warriors and you share the love of Jesus, as a love seed to people and going around to preach His Word. Your hard work will never be in vain, Grandma. We, your grandchildren, miss you every day."**

A friend named Helen, stated, "I will forever be grateful for the love and kindness you showed me. Your generosity, guidance and unwavering support mean the world to me. I cherish the memories of our time together, though it was short. The laughter we shared and the wisdom you imparted. You may be gone but your love and legacy will live on in my heart. Thank you for being such a wonderful friend and sister. I will miss you dearly."
