TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE: Guwor, Others Honour Toboulayefa, Juliet as Tukuru, Nanadigha Families Unite in Love

updated 27 Sep, 2024

The speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor joined other family members and well-wishers on a special duty in the city of Warri to witness the traditional marriage of his nephew and groom, Toboulayefa Super Nanadigha, to the bride, Juliet Success Tukuru, on Thursday, September 26, 2024.

The ceremony held at the residence of the bride's father, Rev. Dr. Chief Kesiye Justice Tukuru, a native of Koluama in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State and founder of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church of Zion Worldwide, Hollywood Zion Ministry, Warri.

As is the custom with traditional marriage, the bride's family welcomed and entertained their latest in-laws, who were from Gbaramatu Kingdom in the Warri South-West council area, in a brief ceremony outdoor, before proceeding indoor for the payment of the bride's dowry, a crucial part of the ceremony.

Both families, through their spokespersons, engaged in the rituals of verifying and authenticating the presented items of the groom as required by the bride's family before accepting to give out their beautiful flower.

The payment of the bride price climaxed with the unveiling of the beautiful bride, after the groom and his family had satisfied all the necessary requirements, and was ushered into the arms of the waiting groom, who, at that moment became a man, husband and anticipated father.

The latest couple sealed their union of love with prayers of marital blessings from the father of the bride, Rev. Dr. Chief Tukuru. He had earlier handed a cup of wine to his beloved daughter, the bride, to search out the groom, her darling husband, from among the guests seated.

From then on, it was celebration as the latest couple trooped out in honour, accompanied by a massive crowd of well-wishers who celebrated them with songs of admiration

The couple are now set for the big celebration of their traditional marriage reception which comes up 10am at the Jubilee Retreat and Conference Center, No. 5 Enerhen Road Behind Mother of The Redeemer Catholic Church in Effurun, with guests from both Bayelsa and Delta that cut across the political, business and social class, expected to be in attendance.

We at PENGlobal congratulate the lovely couple and wish them the very best as they begin a new journey together in the spirit of love.
