THANKSGIVING / ANNIVERSARY: Chief Boumiebi Recounts God's Saving Grace in Fatal Car Accident, Extols Wife at 23rd Anniversary

updated 04 Dec, 2023

An accident that could have resulted to more loss of lives and destruction of vehicles on Monday, December 12, 2022, was quickly averted by the Ogungbeinwei of Ogulagha Kingdom and the Kariwei of Obotebe Kingdom, Chief Francis Boumiebi JP, when the political bigwig of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), who was traveling alongside his brother Mr. Wilfred Boumiebi, made a swift calculated move that saw his private vehicle veered off the road to Bomadi in Delta State which later ended up in a ditch after it somersaulted twice. Yet, no one was injured.

Although it has been close to a year since the incident occurred, however it seems like it was only yesterday as Chief Boumiebi recounted the scenery of the fatal accident in a Thanksgiving service that held on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at the Holy Ghost Dominion Bible Church off Jakpa Road in Effurun. Coincidentally, the Thanksgiving coincided with his 23 years marriage anniversary.

Chief Boumiebi, who is the Coordinator of the Delta Political Vanguard in Burutu Local Government Chapter, and a party campaign committee member of the PDP in Burutu LGA in charge of culture and traditional affairs, shared his testimony at the altar of the church alongside his wife, Mrs. Maureen Boumiebi, and were later prayed for by Bishop Great Omasheye, the General Overseer.

In his words: "On the 12th of December last year, when the PDP was doing its ward to ward campaigns, we went to my hometown on for campaign. Thereafter we were to go to the Bomadi area for another ward to ward campaign. I was rushing from Ogulagha to meet up with the campaign. On my way my boat had issues so I arrived late. On getting to Warri, I had to rush to meet up with the campaign. Myself and my younger brother, Wilfred Boumiebi were in the car.

"Not knowing that immediately after the flood, there was a crack on the road and one bridge there was bad. So all the convoy that went for the campaign were trapped there and I didn't know. So when I approached there and saw the serious traffic ahead, there was no where to go and I was on speed. If I face them, I might take so many lives and destroy so many cars, so I had to turn the wheel and where I found myself was a ditch.

"So we ran into a ditch after the car somersaulted twice. My brother and I did not sustain any injury. It was then I knew that there is God on this altar. The God in this altar is alive and is working," Chief Boumiebi confessed.

Speaking further he recalled, “The people that were there thought we were dead. But when they ran into the bush and saw that both of us were alive, healthy and sound, they were surprised. They then brought us out. That is how God saved us from that accident on that fateful day".

Chief Boumiebi, who intends to contest the chairmanship position of Burutu LG under the platform of the PDP, also noted that he would have done the Thanksgiving before now but for unforeseen engagements that kept him so busy.

On his 23rd marriage anniversary, he showered praises on his wife whom he described as a very good woman, a mother to him that has been there for him and the family.

"You see, this woman that is standing here with me has been very good to me, keeping the family. She is the mother that I have. She is all and all in my life. We have been in this union for 23 years. Yesterday (Saturday) marks 23 years. We have nothing but just to say thank you," he added.

The Boumiebi's later held a get together with families and friends at his residence in NigerCat, Effurun, where guests were treated to food, drinks and musical entertainment from Prince Smally Okpe and his Izon musical band.
