The professional body of welders and Fitters in Delta State, under the aegis of the Delta State Izon-Ibe Welders and Fitters Association, has commended the Federal Government as led by President Bola Tinubu for demonstrating total commitment to a cleaner Niger Delta through the recent renewal of the pipeline surveillance contract to Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, the security firm that High Chief Government Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo has stake in.

The professional association of welders and fitters made the remark in a statement the group issued on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, and was signed by its chairman, Chief George Timiyan (JP), in Warri, Delta State.

Chief Timiyan, who earlier appealed to the Federal Government few months ago to allow Tantita continue the pipeline surveillance job due to the security firm's outstanding performance, noted that President Tinubu, "by renewing the contract did not only heed the calls of majority of Niger Deltans, but has shown by his action that the era of rampant oil pollution, among other challenges bedeviling host communities, is coming to an end.

"Everyone can testify that the ugly trend of rampant oil pollution of our water wats is gradually fading away. And that was one of the strong basis of our appeal and other like-minded bodies and leaders.

"With Tantita, on this renewed contract, it would only boost the war against oil theft and save Nigeria not only revenues from increased oil production, but the security of the greatest asset of the region, the Niger Delta aquatic environment," he added.

The association congratulated Tompolo for his astounding feat in executing the pipeline surveillance job and for the successful contract renewal.

They also appealed to the Tantita Boss to give members of the association the opportunity to make their own contributions by inculcating them into the project.

It would be recalled that President Tinubu through the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, Mr. Mele Kyari, re-awarded the pipeline surveillance contract for another three years, finally laying to rest the apprehension generated in the Niger Delta over the contract renewal.
