NAOMARK 2023: Photos From the Electrifying Marriage Reception of Barristers Naomi and Mackson Ode
The mood at the marriage reception party of Barr. Mackson and Barr. (Mrs.) Naomi Ode that held on Saturday, 30th September 2023, could best be described as ‘electrifying’, not only for the couple but also for guests in attendance, in that it was marked for the most part with wild jubilation in celebration of the latest legal couple's union.
The reception party held in the Ogunu-Warri residence of the bride's father, a prominent leader from Diebiri and from Gbaramatu kingdoms in the Warri South-West council area of Delta State, Chief James Orubu, who earlier gave out his daughter's hand in a traditional marriage setting before the reception party kicked off proper.
Chief Orubu, who declared the ceremony open, used the opportunity to welcome guests in attendance as well as showed his appreciation for their coming to celebrate with the families of the bride and the groom.
As with all marriage reception, the electrifying party, asides the cutting of the marriage cake and a dance session by the couple, also witnessed a counsel session from the chairman of the occasion, Dr. Clems Tonfawei, who, while dishing out plain advice to the latest married couple, made it know he has been in the institution for 23 years.
While the couple were not strangers to counsel, being that as legal practitioners, offering professional counsel on legal matters is part of their stock in trade, however, on this first day of their marital journey they needed all of the counsel they could get from those who are 'the experienced folks' already practicing in an institution that is interesting for some and displeasing for others. And 23 years is sure a tested time that qualifies one as a counsellor.
"Marriage is all about give and take," Dr. Tonfawei began his brief counsel as he spoke directly to the couple who were seated in a special decorated location designed for their comfort.
"When you do not forgive, you will find it very difficult to achieve success in marriage," he sounded the warning as he continued on the most important job he has been given to perform in the ceremony.
"It is an Institution designed by God, and if you must succeed in it you must learn how to forgive one another. You must learn how to love because without love you will find it very hard to forgive," and added by urging them to seek God always in their marriage.
Dr. Tonfawei also challenged the couple to emulate the bride's parents among others older couples who have grown up together and are still waxing stronger in their marital homes.
Other highlights include group photo session, dance with the couple to musical entertainment, provision of foods to guests by professional chefs, offering of gifts to the couple by association of lawyers among others from families and friends.
