MR. & MRS. HAPPY EBIKEME: A Tale of Love Built On Friendship
It is said that behind every couple, there is a story. But that of the union between Evelyn Amrasavwore, a native of Orogun in Ughelli North, and Happy Ebikeme from Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West, both in Delta State, is not that "love at first sight" tale, but it is one that depicts the notion that true love can grow with time.
The decision by the couple, who came all the way from the United Kingdom to become husband and wife, could well also be fueled by destiny as both of them seemed to be moving in the same direction such that were one goes, the other follows.
The latest couple, who were joined together in Holy Matrimony at the Word of Salvation Bible Life Ministry, Effurun, celebrated the success of their union with families, friends and other well-wishers at the Ishaka Hotel along Refinery Road on Sunday, January 5, 2024.
The venue of the reception was a beehive of activities as the newly-wedded couple arrived few hours past noon to the waiting arms of their guests who had been joyfully and patiently waiting for the celebration to begin.
Major activities centered around the cutting of the couple's wedding cake and special dance session which climaxed with the giving of marriage gifts from well-wishers and then a group photograph session.
In a chat with PENGlobal Social, both the bride and groom expressed delight in the new journey they both willingly decided to embark on, no longer as separate individuals but as one body and soul that marriage depicts.
"We've known each other for quite a long time," said Mrs. Evelyn as she tried to paint a picture of how their romance blossomed from friends to lovers.
"We started dating for, like, one year plus, but we've known each other for a long time. It just happened for us and from there we started getting to know ourselves better," the beautiful bride added in excitement.
And what was the magic that made the Marine Economics and Finance graduate from the Nigerian Maritime University (NMU) Okerenkoko, and the Diploma holder of Business Administration from the Abia State Polytechnic to accept the transition from friends to become more closer?
For the bride, "He is a kind of person, he's awesome, he's cool," she admitted amidst smiles. And on his part, the groom confessed, "Evelyn is a very respectful, kind-hearted, and honest somebody. She's hardworking, she's industrious, and she's quite independent from what I see. She knows what she wants, and she's a go-getter. So, she's someone that you can build a home with because she's homely."
Speaking further on what his beloved wife would be expecting as he makes a transition from boyfriend to a darling husband, the native of Okerenkoko in Gbaramatu Kingdom revealed, "First of all, she should be expecting all the love and respect of her husband as she deserves all of my love and respect. Secondly, I'm actually ready to do my best to take care of her and our future kids and build a home together."
As both the couple get set to enjoy their honeymoon together before returning back to the UK, the bride left a candid advice to those still single and searching.
"For the young single girls out there, it is for them to be patient, tolerant, not to rush into things. Just wait on God. At the right time, the right person will come," she counseled.
That remark was not unexpected, coming from a young woman who built her love with time from the foundation of friendship. If it sure worked for her, it would for other single ladies out there.
