MARRIAGE: The Mala's Give Out Daughter to the Idowu's as Ijaw, Yoruba Become One
Love, they say, is a beautiful thing. And this beauty was unveiled when suitors from the South-West region paid a visit to the Niger Delta region of Nigeria in their quest to take a wife for their son.
And so, it was an atmosphere of joy at the residence of Pastor Friday Mala in the Udu area of Delta State as the Mala and the Lelegha families both gave out their precious daughter and bride, Faith Lelegha, to her beloved husband, the groom, Emmanuel Idowu, at a traditional marriage ceremony that held on Thursday, April 11, 2024.
While the bride, Faith, is a native of Gbaramatu Kingdom in the Warri South-West and also from Burutu local government areas of Delta State, the groom, Emmanuel, is from Obokun L.G.A. in Osun State.
As is with the tradition of the Ijaws in relation to marriage, the bride's family entertained the groom's family with kola nuts, drinks and water on their arrival from a long journey. Thereafter they sought to know from them the purpose of their visit.
Finally, the bride's family, having certified and accepted the purpose of their quest, invited the groom's family indoors for the payment of the bride price in accordance with the requirements contained in the dowry list, as a honour to the bride and to the family.
Having concluded that part, the bride made her appearance from seclusion into the arms of the groom and his family, and to receive prayers of blessings in their union as husband and wife.
Thereafter, the celebration continues outdoor with numerous guests from both families welcoming the newly married couple as well as to be entertained by their dances, and of course, foods and drinks as they all make merriment.
Come Saturday, April 13, both couples will grace the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Jesus Vineyard Parish in Peter Okoh Street by the end of Izomo Road, Ovwian in Delta State, for their Solemnization of Holy Matrimony, before proceeding to the reception venue at 2–1 Playz Event Center in Oputu Estate, Egini Drive opposite Permanent Camp, DSC Township in Udu (Landmarks: Police Post/Wetland Hotel/Oputu Plaza).
Congratulations to the Mala's and the Idowu's as we at PENGlobal wish the couple a fruitful, peaceful and happy union (Amen).
