LATE SNR. BOAN. CLEMENT OMOLE EREMENEGHA ODU: Biography of the Historian and a Call to Emulation [Part 2]

A Christian funeral service was held in honour of the Late Snr. Boan. Pa. Clement Omole Eremenegha Odu, in Okerenkoko Federated Community, Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West L.G.A. of Delta State, by an assembly of Cherubim and Seraphim churches as families, friends and other sympathisers paid their last respect to the historian on Friday, August 30, 2024.

The funeral service was officiated by the Cherubim & Seraphim Churches of Bibopre Zion, Okerenkoko (Apst. P. E German JP); Ogono-Ebijor Zion, Benikrukru (Pst. Roland Ojogun); Amaebimo Zion, Kunukunuma (Apst. Mathias Amaye); New Jerusalem Zion, Oporoza (Snr Boan Edward Ubebe); and Restoration Zion, Kolokolo (Apst. Columbus D, Oluba), among other ministers in attendance.

The ceremony featured singing of praises by choirs from various ministries, the presentation of the biography, and the delivery of a sermon by ministers with a charge on guests in attendance to emulate the exemplary life of the Late Snr. Boan. Pa. Clement Omole Eremenegha Odu.

According to the biography of the deceased, the "Late Snr. Boan. Pa. Clement Omole Eremenegha Odu was born February 17th 1934 into the family of Pa Odu Tuwafiyegha and Mama Gende; he hailed paternally from Ikokoli of Agugu Quarters in Kokodiagbene Community and Ibu of Okri Quarters in Okerenkoko Community, both in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.

"Late Snr. Boan. Pa Clement Omole attended Oboro Primary School in Benikrukru Community (Warri South-West) where he obtained his first school leaving certificate in 1949. He lived with his parents as a child and was tutored at Ekpemu Toru.

"During his childhood period, he was obedient and a very responsible child who helped his parents in their fishing occupation. He was so diligent that he did not only practiced the art of fishing very well, he also mastered trading in fishes. It was in that environment he grew into adolescence and eventually got married in 1962.

"He was best known and became famous amongst his peers due to his heart-warming display of our traditional dancing steps (Agene and Abo style). Due to his display of our traditional dance steps, he got massive attraction from his viewers and from there he got married to his first wife. He later got married to his other wives.

"Late Snr. Boan. Pa Clement Omole journeyed from Ogidadunor Oburukiran to continue his fishing activities. From there he migrated to Benin River with his wives to continue his fishing occupation in order to make ends meet for the family."

On how he got into ministry, the biography reads, "In the journey of his early life, papa had an encounter with Late Apostle Paul Oturubu. Late Ap. Paul Oturubu, while disbanding from Ugbon-Nia in Ondo State, their engine got knocked along Bateren-Tiye in Benin River. In the process of sorting out a way to fix the engine to continue their journey, they met with Late Pa Clement Omole where someone from the village (Bateren-Tiye) introduced daddy to Late Ap. Paul Oturubu as his nephew. From their encounter, daddy finally made up his mind to serve God with his entire family at Bibopre Zion in Okerenkoko.

"After spending some years in the Benin River, daddy finally returned to Bibopre Zion with his household. During daddy’s early life, a lot of scenarios took place but just a few to mention.

"Late Snr. Boan. Pa Clement Omole was a vital and valuable asset, more especially to the people of Okerenkoko, Kokodiagbene and the entire Gbaramatu Kingdom at large as a result of his great historical knowledge. His gift to the younger generation of Okerenkoko and Kokodiagbene community was showing them their landmark and their territorial waters. Daddy was never weary of discussing the subject of history with his audience.

"Late Snr. Boan. Pa Clement Omole was inducted into the elders’ council of Okerenkoko Community in Gbaramatu Kingdom and participated fully in the community affairs. He was a man of versatile wisdom and always gives godly advice. He happens to be a very generous man who has helped a lot of people without discrimination.

"Due to his good conduct, the whole of Bibopre Zion sheep fold was entrusted to him, and he diligently took care of them before the bombardment of the community. He loves brotherhood which includes his family members, friends, neighbours, community and others. If you have Late Pa Clement Omole by your side, you have someone indeed.

"In 1982, Late Snr. Boan. Pa Clement Omole began worshipping as a dedicated member with the Bibopre Zion. In the year 1991/1992 session, he went to the School of Theology at Ugbon-Nia where he was ordained as a Pastor in the Lord’s vineyard. Because he had a passion for singing, he joined the chorister’s band in the church and was eventually made the head of the band. Later, due to his activeness, punctuality, good conducts and wisdom, he was promoted to the Aladura’s Band as Snr. Boanerge.

“Until his death he was addressed as Snr. Boan. Clement Omole Eremenegha Odu. He is survived by wives, 22 children, 102 grandchildren, nine grandchildren and other relatives.”

The remains of the Late Snr. Boan. Pa. Clement Omole Eremenegha Odu was later laid to etenal rest in the early evening amidst tears from families and sympathisers.
