LATE MAMA OMEREYON UYATEDE: House of Rep. Member Rt. Rev. (Hon.) Francis Waive Gives Mother-in-Law Befitting Burial at Azama

The honourable member representing Ughelli North/South/Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Rev. (Hon.) Francis Ejiroghene Waive (MHR), joined other families and sympathisers of his late mother-in-law, Mama Omereyon Uyatede Nee Gafede, to pay his last respect and to give the deceased a befitting burial in her hometown, Azama Federated Community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State on Friday, 9 February 2024.

The lawmaker, who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Rules and Business, is married to one of Mama's daughters, Mrs. Rita Waive, with whom the union of which is blessed with children.

Rt. Rev. (Hon.) Francis Waive joined the funeral procession in Warri from the Ame Specialist Clinic as Mama's remains was conveyed to Miller Waterfront and from there to Azama for the funeral rites.

In his tribute to his beloved mother-in-law, the lawmaker praised Late Mama Omereyon for her golden lifestyle free from discrimination, a scrapping attitude, her generosity in giving freely and for the encouragement he often received as a member of the family by marriage.

"I am writing this tribute to my mother-in-law Mama Omereyon Uyatede with joy for three reasons. First is the fact that she came to the saving knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ during her lifetime anc worshipped at the Church of God Mission Tebejor. So, we have hope of seeing her again at the Saviour's feet on the resurrection morning.

"Second is that we celebrate her transition at a good old ripe age of 105 years on Earth. The third is the acceptance and encouragement which she received and treated me since my marriage to her daughter.

"In the well over three decades that I knew and related with her, she clearly was not a trouble maker and cared for family and people who came across her. Vert sacrificial in her giving, Mama treated everyone as her own and never discriminated.

"My mother-in-law lived a good long life in good health and with a good name. May the Almighty God bless us with many more people like her," Rt. Rev. (Hon.) Waive wrote.

Other friends of the lawmaker who sent in condolence message to the family include Prof. Jake Dan-Azumi, Chief of Staff to the Honourable Speaker in the House; Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, Deputy Speaker in the House; Hon. Mutu Nicholas Ebomo (OFR), Chairman, House Committee on Gas Resources; Rep. O. K. Chinda representing Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency, Rivers State; among several others including the management of Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL).

In company of the lawmaker were families, friends, associates and an Urhobo cultural dance troupe that put up a superb performance at the funeral ceremony, adding more colours to the social activities.
