LATE AMB. BLESSING GBENEKAMA: Every Woman is Unique — Fiyewei of Gbaramatu Declares, Lays Wreaths at Grave Site

updated 17 Jun, 2024

High Chief Amb. Dr. Godspower Gbenekama (JP), the Fiyewei of Gbaramatu Kingdom in the Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, has said that every woman is unique in their own way during his visit to the grave site of his late wife, Amb. Mrs. Blessing Oghale Gbenekama JP, in Azama community to lay wreaths at her final resting place on Sunday, June 16, 2024.

The Fiyewei, who was accompanied by the children of the late Amb. Blessing and other family members, arrived at the grave site in the morning hours for the first time after his departed wife was laid to rest on Friday, June 14, 2024.

Sitting down besides the fresh grave site, the High Chief spent some few minutes in silence and couldn't utter any words as he was still heavily weighed down by the sudden loss.

Finally, manning up, the Fiyewei laid the first wreath, and was followed by the children of his late wife as they took their turns to also lay their wreaths at the final resting place of their beloved mother.

As much as he tried to conceal his grief, it was still obvious from his countenance that a fountain of tears was building up within him as silent sobs robbed him of the braveness he had tried to demonstrate. But knowing he had assured family members and friends that he would man up to the task, he managed to regain his composure as they made the trip back the route through which they had earlier came.

Speaking with community members and other sympathisers, the High Chief confessed that the love he received and the honour given on the demise of his late wife is unfathomable, and that such has not been heard of before in the kingdom.

Going down memory lane, he explained how the late Amb. Blessing played a special and key role in his life while also stressing that "I am not putting down the other women I married" as “every woman is unique in their own way but this woman is unique in her own way”.

The High Chief promised to cry no more but to rather channel his energies toward raising up the children she had left behind to become not only like their mother but to surpass her achievements.
