The Emir of Bida, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Yahaya Abubakar CFR, the 13th Etsu Nupe, and Chairman of Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, in company of His Royal Majesty, Igwe Sheikh Abdulfatah Chimaeze Emetumah III, the grand Imam / Ofor of Umuofor Kingdom in Oguta, Imo State, and other aides touched down in his private jet at the Osubi Airport in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State few minutes past noon on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.

Lined up in the waiting lounge at the airport to receive the Emir were the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom in Okpe LGA, HRM Major General Felix Mujakperuo CFR, mni, rtd, Orhue 1; the Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom in Ethiope West LGA, HRM Monday Obukohwo Whiskey, Udurhie 1, alongside some members of their traditional council of chiefs, including the National Coordinator of the Center for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ, and Ibe Serimowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West LGA, Chief Sheriff Mulade.

The Emir, who had flew in from Imo State after the inauguration ceremony of Governor Hope Uzodinma, was due for the commissioning of a street named after His Royal Highness and the house warming ceremony of his daughter, Princess Habiba Bologi Alero Abubakar Yahaya in Ajemeli community, Sapele. It was learnt the house was a gift to the mother.

On arrival at the venue of the ceremony, a crowd of admirers inclusive of members of the Nupe community in Sapele, who were filled with excitement, trooped out en masse to welcome the Etsu Nupe with praises and dance.

PENGlobal Social reliably gathered that the Sapele market was closed down, as well as most persons locked their shops to enable them witness the arrival of the Emir and other prominent personalities on the historic visit. Some of the men and women were said to have stationed themselves as early as 8am along the route leading to the venue so they can be the first to welcome the Etsu Nupe.

Swarmed by the large mammoth crowd, His Royal Highness immediately commissioned the street named after him, '(HRH) Etsu Nupe Drive, Alhaji (Dr.) Yahaya Abubakar (CFR)' while the Orodje of Okpe did the honour of conducting the house opening ceremony of Princess Habiba.

Among notable chiefs that represented the Olu of Warri, His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, include Chief Walter Omatsola Boyo, the Usẹn Olu etẹ of Warri Kingdom alias Akature; Chief Prest Uduẹyin, the A-ko-inọ-tse-ọkan of Warri kingdom; Chief Engr. Dr. Wilson Edun Olley, the Aboludero of Warri Kingdom alias Opuaro. amongst others.

While entertainment of guests went on indoors, other guests outdoors were being thrilled with the acrobatic display of traditional dancers from the Urhobo, Itsekiri, Ijaw and Nupe ethnic groups. There were also representatives from the communities of the Ilaje, Igbo, Yoruba, and others who stormed the venue to witness the event.

There were also friends and associates of the Princess who came all the way from Benin City (Edo State), Port Harcourt (Rivers State), Cross River as well as from the Federal Capital Territory Abuja to witness the commissioning and to rejoice with her. It was indeed a massive gathering.

Findings by PENGlobal indicated that the Emir of Bida, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Yahaya Abubakar CFR, becomes the first living Emir and northerner named after a street in not only Sapele but the entire South-South region of Nigeria.

It was also learnt that the newly named '(HRH) Etsu Nupe Drive' which leads to the river will soon become active as plans are currently underway by the Princess and her partners to build a wharf that will attract and boost investments as well as create jobs for the teeming youths in Sapele and in extension Delta State at large.

More thrilling is the fact that the daughter of the Emir, Princess Habiba, is regarded by many as a very nice person who has built a solid reputation over the years with the people. This goodwill she commanded was demonstrated in the massive turnout of guests, many of whom stayed even till 10pm while celebrating the Princess' achievement.
