HIRSCHSPRUNG’S DISEASE: Woman in China Gets Rid of Giant Poo

12 Aug, 2023

Did you know that surgeons at the Zhejiang University First Hospital in eastern China has removed a three-feet python-shaped poo, the largest ever, from a constipated woman?

A 53-year-old Chinese woman identified as Hua was diagnosed of a medical condition known as Hirschsprung’s disease, a condition that causes poo to move extremely slowly or even get stuck as it moves along the intestines.

Hua, who claimed she had been backed up for years due to her inability to stool, was left desperate for help and begged medics at the Zhejiang University First Hospital in eastern China to help her.

She had been in the sorry state for 10 days, barely able to get out of bed because the pain being caused by bloating in her stomach was so great. She had been having issues with constipation for years – but the health condition couldn’t be sorted out with laxatives leading to her needing medical attention.

According to reports from local media, she looked pregnant and she was so bloated by the time she showed up at the hospital. Surgeons were left horrified after removing the giant log from the patient. The poo that was finally removed was found to weigh 44 lbs, or 20 kilogrammes, and had been hardened by the body.

The condition had caused pressure to build up inside her body because of the enormous mass which had in turn made her breathing difficult. Moreover, loved ones were able to feel the rock-hard turds inside her stomach by giving it a poke, and subsequently urged her to get help as quickly as possible.

When the monster poo was finally removed, doctors found that one part was roughly the same size as a football. Her liver, stomach, small intestine and other organs were all found to be being pressed on by her expanded intestines, with doctors later diagnosing her with a birth defect which led to underdeveloped intestinal nerve cells.
