GPD 2023: People yet to know importance of Gbaramatu Prayer Day — High Chief Ogelegbanwei
The Tonwei of Gbaramatu Kingdom, High Chief Nelson Ogelegbanwei (JP), has said that the people of Gbaramatu Kingdom in the Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, are yet to know the importance of the Gbaramatu Prayer Day.
The prominent High Chief who represented the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oboro Gbaraun II, Aketekpe, Agadagba, made his opinion known at the 5th edition of the one-day Christian prayer programme in Oporoza Town on Friday, October 13, 2023.
Speaking to the media, High Chief Ogelegbanwei who said asides the low turn out by members of Gbaramatu Kingdom on the fact that the people are yet to know the importance of such a programme, hinted on the need for more sensitization in order to convince them to participate.
He said, “For example, I have attended and known the importance. So it's better for us to convince those who have not been here to come and attend because most of the people are in town, moving all about and doing nothing as they don't know the importance of the prayer day. The prayer day is very important, to the lives of everybody because it brings development to the kingdom.”
Speaking further on his expectations after the programme, High Chief Ogelegbanwei said as a Christian, he already believes, in line with the theme 'Breaking New Ground', that "new things" are about to manifest in the kingdom "as regards development and progress".
He therefore called on the people of Gbaramatu Kingdom not in attendance to as a matter of urgency to make out time "to attend the prayer day because it is a miraculous one as a lot of things that have been closed down by the enemies will be open again," he charged.
Earlier, the Tonwei of Gbaramatu Kingdom led the congregation in prayers for the progress of the Nigeria Maritime University (NMU), Okerenkoko; the re-award of the pipeline surveillance contract to High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, and against abandonment of any project in the kingdom, among others.

Emmanuel Bebenimibo, among others.
