FAMUTUA@50: Celebrating 5 Decades in the Journey of Life
At 50 years, Pastor Felix Famutua might appear to most persons as just a church leader who is currently the Pastor-in-Charge, El-Shaddai Area, Delta Province 4 of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), in Udu area of Delta State. But it would surprise many when they learn that the gentleman is regarded in his hometown, Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area, as one of the pioneers in youth activism in the kingdom.
Pastor Famutua, who turned 50 on Saturday, June 8, 2024, in the mood of celebration and with a heart full of thanksgiving, marked the golden jubilee celebration in company of his families, friends and members of the ministry at the well-decorated church premises.
Interestingly, the celebrant, married to Dcns. Timinepere Famutua and is a father of three children, was once the former Secretary-General of Okerenkoko Students Union ably headed by the present Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, High Chief (Engr.) Kestin Pondi (Pioneer President) with Dr. Paul Bebenimibo, as its vice president.
The celebrant was also formerly the Chairman of Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, Gbaramatu Kingdom; former Publicity Secretary of the Gbaramatu Youth Council, GYC, ably headed by Chief Sheriff Mulade, currently the National Coordinator of Center for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ; and a former youth activist, community teacher in Gbaraun Grammar School, Oporoza, from 1997 -1999, among others.
The 50th birthday celebration which kicked off with an opening prayer, followed by the celebrant's entry into the venue in company of family members and other well-wishers, also witnessed the singing of hymns, song ministration by the El-Shaddai choirs, words of exhortations, testimonies on the life of the celebrant, among other activities.
During the testimony, Tamaragan Felix- Famutua, first daughter of the celebrant, stirred the assembly with laughter when she noted that her mother is fearful of their father, when actually she meant to say respectful. However, like others who also testified, she praised her dad for being lively, whose presence always keep the home in a humourous mood, as well as for being caring and sympathetic to the cause of others.
Though not a very good dancer, however, the golden jubilant put up his best as he danced joyfully, though shyly, during the dance session in celebration of the milestone achieved. To spice up the celebration, two instrumentalists: a guitarist known as Sam Strings, and a saxophonist named Daniel Odili, both added excitement to the atmosphere as they performed before the celebrant and the audience, melodious Christian praise tunes.
Highpoints of the celebration include the cutting of the cake by the celebrant, group photo session, prayers for the celebrant and his family.
Among guests in attendance include a woman leader in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Mrs. Beauty Warejouwei; the Senior Pastor of Eagle Wings Gospel Church, Pst.
