CEPEJ Boss Commends Etsu Nupe on Peace Building, Ethnic Diversity

A foremost environmental and peace advocacy group, the Center for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ, has commended the Emir of Bida and 13th Etsu Nupe, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Yahaya Abubakar CFR and Chairman of Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, for his efforts in peace building and ethnic diversity.

CEPEJ made the commendation through its National Coordinator, Chief Sheriff Mulade, the Ibe Serimowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West LGA of Delta state, during the Emir's visit to the state for the house warming ceremony of his daughter, Princess Habiba Bologi Alero Abubakar Yahaya, in Ajemeli community, Sapele on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.

Among other royal personalities who were on ground to receive the Etsu Nupe at the Osubi Airport are HRM Major General Felix Mujakperuo CFR, mni, rtd, Orhue 1, the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, Okpe LGA; HRM Monday Obukohwo Whiskey, Udurhie 1, the Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom in Ethiope West LGA, alongside their traditional council of chiefs.

The Etsu Nupe in company of HRM Igwe Sheikh Abdulfatah Chimaeze Emetumah III, the grand Imam / Ofor of Umuofor Kingdom, Oguta, Imo State, also visited the Palace of the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom at Oreorokpe, where they were presented with gifts.

Speaking on the development, the National Coordinator of CEPEJ said the Emir, who is one of top high ranking traditional rulers in the country, has always been a unifier who believes in the unity and peaceful coexistence of Nigerians.

He said, "As a peace and environmental advocate, we commend His Royal Highness, the Emir for playing the role as a bridge builder between the north and the south.

"His efforts at peace building are worthy of commendation. His families are here as you can see during the housewarming ceremony of the daughter with the presence of the Etsu Nupe community," Chief Mulade added.

The CEPEJ Boss further called on Deltans and Nigerians to embrace peace which is a necessary requirement towards attaining development and capacity building while also stressing that the people should focus on the areas they will benefit more in collaboration with fellow Nigerians than on what will divide them.

Recall that the Etsu Nupe was among royal guests that visited CEPEJ on Thursday, March 22, 2018, during the  unveiling of its permanent secretariat at Ugolo-Okpe.
