Earlier in the day, his remains was conveyed from the Ame Specialist Hospital Mortuary along Okumagba Avenue in Warri to Miller Waterfront and onward to his hometown Oporoza for a brief funeral rite before being interred.

The late Dan, as the deceased is fondly called, is described as a "loving and caring father to his children; always telling them to be honest and upright in all of their deeds" and "was a lover of books" as captured in his biography, which partly reads:

"Daniel okoro, popularly called Dan, passed away on the 2nd of August 2024 in Abuja, Nigeria, where he was receiving treatment with the hope that he would return to Warri to join his loving family and aged mother. But little did he know that he wasn't going to make it back to Warri alive. It was a dream unfulfilled. He was in the hospital in Abuja for more than two months; cared for by Ebimenewei Okoro who provided brotherly care for the duration he was in the hospital.

"He was born into the families of Late Pa. Meeting Okoro and Mrs Dina Okoro (nee Timinimi), both of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State in 1976.

"Late Daniel Okoro was a devoted father to his immediate and extended family. He attended Fiyewei Primary School Oporoza from 1980 to 1986. In his quest for better secondary education, he moved to Warri and gained admission into the then famous J.F. Kennedy Secondary School where he obtained his West Africa Examination Certificate (WAEC) in 2002. He later obtained his Bachelor's degree in 2010 from the Delta State University, Abraka. He later completed his master's degree in the same university in 2016. Because of his extraordinary love and desire for education advancement, Late Daniel Okoro registered for his PhD in 2022. A part he was on until his sudden demise.

"He gained employment at an aviation company in April 2002 as helicopter landing officer. There was a mild drama at Osubi Airport on the day of resumption. The Aeroplane (twinNorta) he boarded had a failed engine and  hewas asked to switch planes before getting to Escravos with a smile.

"He worked briefly at Escravos Airport before being transferred to Chevron Eastern Operational Platform Robertkiri. He was later moved to Abiteye Flowstation during the heat of the Warri crisis and survived two militant attacks on Abiteye station. The job took him again to Parabe field in Escravos North Field Operation.

"Because of the nature of his job, he was moved to several operational Platforms (including Delta south water injection platform, Funiwa platform, Makaraba platform, Otunana platform, B.O.P platform and many others. Though his last assigned platform was Sonam LQP. Dan later joined Avbridge Nigeria Ltd, Caverton Helicopters and finally Heliserve Nig. Ltd until his death.

"He was a dedicated staff loved by all and was nicknamed by some of his colleagues as 'D Leader' while others call him Okoro D. He was a treasurer of the Aviation Personnel Multipurpose Cooperative Society and he was very meticulous, thorough and diligent with his job. He was a straightforward and disciplined man who understands the working of a cooperative Society. He had good working relationships with his colleagues, the management and staff of his company. That attests to why you have most of his colleagues in this arena.

"Late Daniel Okoro is survived by his beloved wife, Mrs Edna Okoro, and beautiful children among whom are Edoutimiye P.M Ebierede, Edoutimiye R.M.Tamaralayefa, Edoutimiye T.M. Tamarabrakemi, Edoutimiye I.M. Tamaratarielade, and Edoutimiye G.M. Tamarakarinade.

“He will be missed by all who have had contact with him. He will forever be in our heart.”
