AMASUO-UGEH 2024: Kokodiagbene to Flag-off Festival with Football Competition in Honour of Tompolo

The 2024 edition of the annual Amasuo-Ugeh Festival organised by the people of Kokodiagbene community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, is billed to kick off with a football competition tagged 'Tompolo Peace and Unity Football Tournament' on December 19.

This was made known by the chairman of the Amasuo-Ugeh Festival Planning Committee, Chief (Engr.) George Timiyan JP, in a media briefing on Sunday, December 1.

According to Chief Timiyan, the participating football teams are  Kokodiagbene FC, Kunukunuma FC, Benikrukru FC, and Oporoza FC.

He said, "The football match will commence from Thursday, December 19th and will be concluded on Sunday, December 22nd.

"The winners will be awarded prizes, particularly the winner and first runner up; although the prizes will be made known on the final date of the competition," he disclosed.

Speaking on the purpose of the football competition, Chief George stated that besides adding fun to the annual festival which is billed to begin from December 20 to December 22, the competition is organised to honour the Niger Delta leader, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo, for his contributions to the development of the community and the kingdom at large.

Asides the football competition, other sporting activities like boat regatta, tug of war, dancing contest among others are billed to also take place during the 2024 edition of the annual festival.

The 2024 edition promises to be thrilling and exciting as top dignitaries from across the kingdom and in Delta State are expected to grace the festival that is getting bigger with each year.
