updated 13 Sep, 2024

The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, an agency of the Federal Government tasked with the development of the oil-rich region of Nigeria, has called for calm and patience from stakeholders in the region who had applied for its Youth Internship Scheme.

The NDDC made the plea in its verified official X (formerly Twitter) space @NDDCOnline on Thursday, September 12, 2024.

According to the NDDC, over 2 million applied for the scheme, and that it is the desire of the agency to maintain integrity and to ensure transparency and a fair selection process.

It also warned stakeholders to ignore any information that does not originate from its official channel.

The message, titled "Let’s Be Patient" reads in full:

"The NDDC is asking for patience and understanding from the stakeholders and the youths that registered for its Youth Internship Scheme.

"We are working diligently to ensure a transparent and fair selection process. We want all concerned to appreciate the fact that over 2 million youths registered in our designated portal between August 5, 2024, when the registration was formally launched and August 31,2024, when it closed.

"We urge all stakeholders to disregard any misinformation or unfounded claims regarding the NDDC Youth Internship Scheme. Be rest assured that we are committed to transparency and integrity throughout the selection process.

"Any unauthorised post other than the NDDC official channel should be disregarded," it warned.
