The Ijaw Publishers' Forum has issued a passionate appeal to Ijaw youths to shun violence and to conduct themselves peacefully as the Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, Western Zone prepares to elect a new leadership at Odimodi Town in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State on June 5, 2024.

The IPF made the appeal in a statement that was signed by its President Comr. Ozobo Austin and made available to the press on Tuesday, June 4.

The Forum in its appeal, which has been widely welcomed by stakeholders and community leaders, emphasised the importance of maintaining peace and decorum during the electoral process, and urged the youths to prioritize the development and progress of the Ijaw Nation rather than resorting to violent means.

The Forum also reminded the youths that the election is a critical opportunity to shape the future of the Ijaw Nation and that their actions should reflect the values of peace, unity, and progress.

"We appeal to our youths to eschew violence and embrace peaceful conduct during the election. Let us work together to build a brighter future for our nation," Comr. Ozobo stated.

The IYC Western Zone election is scheduled for Wednesday, June 5, and is expected to be a pivotal moment in the history of the Ijaw Nation.
