WARRI SOUTH-WEST: Legislative arm proceeds on 28-day recess, hints on a more productive session on resumption

The legislative arm of the Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Ekpemupolo Samuel has proceeded on a 28-day recess to afford house members the opportunity to refresh and to engage with members of their constituents for a more productive session ahead resumption.

This was contained in a recent statement issued by the House Leader, Rt. Hon. Ekpemupolo, who also disclosed the readiness of the legislative arm to collaborate with the executive leadership.

According to the House Leader, the house members proceeded on the recess on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, after the day's session that saw the comprehensive review of the existing Standing Order and House Rule governing the local government council.

The outcome of the review led to the setting up of a five-man adhoc committee chaired by Hon. Kenneth Okpogan to review and update the rules for efficiency in the Council's operations.

In another development, the House Leader led along with other principal officers had a brainstorming engagement with the Executive Chairman of the LG Council, Hon. Sylvester Oromoni and vice chairperson, Hon. Christy Omamofe, on ways of enhancing the Council's governance structure.

"In the meeting with the Executive leaders, we all brainstormed on key issues affecting the LG Council and the need for more engagements and collaborations toward offering long lasting solutions to the existing challenges," Rt. Hon. Ekpemupolo stated.

The House Leader, who also had a familiarization meeting with staff of the Legislative arm, said that that house members are eager on resumption after the recess to enhance the Council's operations.

"As we look forward to resuming plenary after the 28-day recess, we are eager to improve the Council's operations and its overall governance structure as the Legislative arm will continue to collaborate harmoniously with the Executive for a better LG Council," he wrote.
