WARRI SOUTH-WEST: Councilorship Candidate Ekpemupolo Samuel Makes Strong Statement at Ogbe-Ijoh PDP Campaign Flag-Off

updated 20 Jun, 2024

As the ruling People's Democratic Party, PDP, flags-off its campaign in the Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State ahead of the LG elections slated for July 2024, the councilorship candidate representing Kunukunuma Ward in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Mr. Ekpemupolo Idukedoumene Samuel, has made a strong statement with his teeming number of supporters at the just concluded campaign flag-off in the Ogbe-Ijoh Secondary School on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

The PDP campaign flag-off ceremony which held in Ogbe-Ijoh community, headquarters of Warri South-West LGA, was attended by party leaders and faithfuls including the Delta State PDP Chairman, Barr. Kingsley Esiso; the Warri South-West PDP chairman, Chief Favour Izoukumor, the speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, the House of Representatives member representing Warri Federal Constituency, Hon. Ereyitomi Thomas; former Warri South-West LG chairman, Hon. George Ekpemupolo; woman PDP leader in Gbaramatu, High Chief Vero Emmanuel (JP) among others.

Mr. Ekpemupolo, who is popularly known by his sobriquet Sampolo, and was joined by his wife, Mrs. Ekpemupolo Elizabeth, rallied his massive supporters, dressed in colourful branded T-shirts, and carrying placards displaying their solidarity for the councilorship candidate and the chairmanship flag bearer of the party, Hon. Oromoni Sylvester, who in the height of the campaign flag-off was handed over the party's flag as its chairmanship candidate in the forthcoming LG election.

Supporters and other party faithfuls chanted songs of solidarity as they marched from the jetty on arrival at Ogbe-Ijoh from Warri to the venue of the campaign, accompanied by drummers and a trumpeter that provided melodic sounds in tune with their vocal chantings.

It was such a colourful sight to behold as they marched through the streets of Ogbe-Ijoh in their large numbers, in such a manner that one would mistake it to be the arrival of a governor or some other high political office holder, giving a hint of the massive support the candidacy of Mr. Ekpemupolo commands.

Sampolo whose campaign mandate areas cut across effective representation and innovative leadership, during the course of the campaign flag-off noted that the term 'Councilor' has oftentimes been wrongly perceived by some persons as a form of empowerment rather than service to the people, and that he is determined to change that narrative once he gets elected.

He also stressed on working in unity and having an harmonious relationship with the LG chairman-hopeful and other council members if elected to serve the people of his constituency and the Warri South-West at large.

Sampolo, who is from Kurutie community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, called on Deltans of Warri South-West extraction to rally behind the party's candidates and to give them their votes just he assured his constituents of a representation that will be more closer to the people as they would feel the dividends of democracy in tune with the MORE Agenda of the leader of the party and governor of the State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori.
