WARD DELINEATION: Tantita, PAP Boss not INEC staff, Wuruyai fires back at WIPM over inciting statements

updated 19 May, 2025

A Niger Delta leader in Delta State, Chief Joseph Wuruyai, has fired back at the Itsekiri-backed Warri Indigenous People's Movement, WIPM, over alleged comments that Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, TSSNL, is employing its funds to campaign against the First Lady Remi Tinubu and that the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, High Chief Dr. Dennis Otuaro, is making inciting statements that could lead to crisis, all in a bid to upturn the Independent National Electoral Commission's concluded ward delineation exercise.

The rebuttal was made by the leader in reaction to a publication on a social media platform on Monday, May 18, 2025 where WIPM protesters marched with placards bearing inscriptions such as "Tantita Using FG Money to Campaign Against The First Lady" and "NSA Should Call Dennis Otuaro to Order" among others.

According to the said publication, the WIPM "General Secretary, Comr. Monoyo Edon, clarified that the Itsekiris are not opposed to the fresh delineation process but condemned INEC for allegedly abandoning its own guidelines during fieldwork" while "He also accused some Ijaw leaders, including the Presidential Amnesty Programme Coordinator, Dennis Otuaro, of blackmailing the First Lady due to her Itsekiri heritage and making inciting statements capable of threatening peace in Warri."

However, Chief Wuruyai debunked such statement tagging it as “shallow” and that the Itsekiris, having failed to induce their supposed influence on the outcome of the concluded ward delineation, are now seeking for cheap ways to stir up crisis in the Warri Federal Constituency as a way to press home their "illegitimate demands".

Chief Wuruyai said, "Ordinarily, I would not have responded to such shallow allegations from the Itsekiri sponsored Warri Indigenous People's Movement but they are now taking their trickery too far by misinforming the public.

"First of all, neither Tantita nor the Presidential Amnesty Programme is a staff of INEC which has carried out the order of the Supreme Court in relation to conducting fresh wards delineation. So, how come Tantita's name and Otuaro's identity are now being associated with a legal process embarked on by INEC?

"I urge the public to disregard and ignore such statements and see it as coming from a desperate people whose crooked ways have caught up with them.

"I also advise their sponsors to keep out of their agendas and from their lips the names of our leaders including the security firm, Tantita. Their gimmicks or attempt to stir up conflict will not work," he insists.
