The families of Mr. and Mrs. Oroupade John Warri of Tambiri Quarters in Isaba Town, and Snr. Boan. Prophet Dennis Omadi Pori of Jeijei Quarters in Kurutie Federated Community, Gbaramatu Kingdom, both in Warri South-West council area of Delta State, joined ranks at the traditional marriage ceremony of their children, Juliet and Wisdom, on Friday, December 13, 2024.

The traditional marriage ceremony flagged off on arrival of the groom in company of his families and friends at the residence of the bride's father at Usiefurun in Orhuwhorun Town, Udu council area.

The ceremony began outdoors with entertainment as both families of the groom and the bride exchange pleasantries with the breaking of kola nuts and the presentation of drinks and money in line with the Ijaw tradition of hospitality.

The day's official ceremony, the payment of the bride's price by the groom and his family, commenced indoors as both families and their assigned spokesmen engaged in the crucial exercise that marked the climax of the ceremony.

Comical, among the series of activities in the venue of the traditional marriage, was the tasting of the palm wine brought by the groom inorder to determine its originality. The exercise brought humour to the gathering as the wine taster put up some form of doubt as to the quality of the white substance that has become a vital item in the African tradition in relation to marriage.

Thereafter the beautiful bride was unveiled to her beloved husband amidst cheers, with both couple proceeding to her parents to receive their marital blessings via prayers.

The latest couple proceeded outdoors to the waiting arms of their guests for a mild celebration of their successful union, marking the close of the ceremony.

The celebration would continue on Sunday, December 15, as the latest couple take their marriage to the altar of God and thereafter treat their families as well as well-wishers to a colourful reception at the Jubilee Hotel in Enerhen Road, Effurun.
