THE ROYAL PROJECT: Pere of Isaba Kingdom Lauds 2nd Edition of PENGlobal Watch, Affirms Support
A foremost traditional ruler in the Niger Delta region, His Royal Majesty, Ogbobere Isoun VI, the Pere of Isaba Kingdom in the Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, has described the second edition of the PENGlobal Watch tagged The Royal Project as “a laudable” one which he said is worth supporting while pledging his commitment to the realization of the magazine project.
The Pere gave the commendation when committee members of The Royal Project led by the Brand Director of PENGlobal, Mr. Abai Francis, paid the traditional ruler an official visit at his palace in the kingdom on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.
The Royal Project is a magazine compilation of the profiles of Ijaw traditional rulers and their kingdoms with focus on the Western Zone comprising Delta, Edo and Ondo states.
"I want to specially appreciate the idea. It's laudable and worth supporting. Papers speak a lot. By the grace of God if you put this together, somebody can just sit at a point and know all the kings..." His Majesty noted after being briefed by the committee members in his palace.
Earlier, the Brand Director intimated His Majesty on the purpose of the project which is aimed at not only educating the Ijaws on the background of the various traditional rulers and their kingdoms, but also exposing to the global world the customs, values and traditions of the Ijaw people.
The PENGlobal Brand Director, who noted that education as a powerful tool has become misplaced, said the project is an attempt at positively utilizing education to contribute to the growth and the development of the Ijaw Nation at large.
Also speaking during the visit, a member of the committee, Hon. Mackson Ukuli, on behalf of the committee appealed to the Pere and like-minded individuals to key into the project as it is the first of its kind among the Ijaw people, and that the realization of the project would further widen understanding and knowledge of readers concerning the Ijaws.
The Pere of Isaba Kingdom who was visibly excited at the idea behind the project, thanked the committee members for their patience in seeing him and further commended them for the determination to embark on such a commendable task.
He noted that such a compendium which exists among other Nigerian ethnic group such as the Yoruba, is a welcomed development to the Ijaw Nation as it would easily give room for broader understanding of the people and their culture, Ijaws and non-Ijaws inclusive.
His Majesty while pledging his total support to The Royal Project also offered prayers of success and favour on the committee as well as counseled them to be focus on the task ahead irrespective of the challenges that they might encounter on the way.
It would be recalled that The Royal Project committee had also visited the Pere of the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, HRM Oboro Gbaraun II JP, Aketekpe, Agadagba, who threw his weight behind the project as well as offered his blessings and counsels.
Other members of the committee that were present during the official visit to Isaba Kingdom are Chief (Barr.) Mrs. Juliet Montere Yeiwareneghan, the Izonyin of Ogbolubiri Mein Kingdom, and Comrade (Mrs.) Ejiro Stella Mesahrun Bobo.
